    Description

Field Project Engineer — Power Generation

    Location: Onsite

    About the Role

We're seeking an experienced Field Project Engineer to support power generation projects (natural gas, combined-cycle, peaker plants, renewables, or grid infrastructure) on an onsite basis. This role is the technical and administrative bridge between engineering, construction, and project management in the field — ensuring the work being built matches the design, stays on schedule, and meets quality and safety standards.

This is a hands-on, boots-on-the-ground position for someone who wants to be where the work is happening, not behind a desk.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Serve as the onsite point of contact for engineering questions, drawing interpretation, and design clarifications during construction
    • Review and manage RFIs (Requests for Information), submittals, and design change documentation
    • Track construction progress against project schedule and flag deviations early
    • Coordinate with subcontractors, craft supervisors, and QA/QC inspectors to resolve field issues
    • Support punch list development and closeout documentation as systems near completion
    • Review and redline as-built drawings; maintain document control for field revisions
    • Participate in daily/weekly progress meetings and provide engineering status updates
    • Support commissioning and startup activities as the project moves toward completion
    • Ensure work complies with applicable codes, client specifications, and safety requirements
    • Document field conditions, non-conformances, and corrective actions

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent field experience)
    • 8+ years of field engineering experience on industrial or power generation construction projects
    • Working knowledge of power plant systems (mechanical, electrical, or civil scope depending on assignment)
    • Experience reading and marking up P&IDs, one-lines, civil/structural drawings
    • Familiarity with RFI/submittal workflows and construction management software (Procore, PlanGrid, Primavera, or similar)
    • Strong communication skills — comfortable working directly with craft labor, superintendents, and client representatives
    • Willingness to work onsite full-time for the duration of the assignment, including extended hours as project schedule requires
    • OSHA 10/30 certification preferred; ability to pass site-specific safety training

    Preferred

    • Prior experience with EPC contractors or utility-scale power projects
    • PE license or EIT a plus, not required
    • Experience supporting commissioning/startup phases
