Job Title

Clear Path to VP and Potential Ownership in Two Years

About Our Client

Founded by experienced construction industry leaders, our client is a growing commercial contractor specializing in negotiated industrial, office, and multifamily construction projects throughout the Greater Milwaukee area. The company has built a strong reputation for delivering both ground-up and renovation projects through a relationship-driven, client-focused approach. With a project portfolio ranging from several million dollars to large-scale developments, the organization offers the stability of an established business while maintaining the agility and entrepreneurial spirit of a smaller firm. Their collaborative delivery model creates efficiencies in pricing, scheduling, and overall project execution, helping them stand out in a competitive market. The leadership team has cultivated a culture centered on teamwork, autonomy, accountability, and long-term client relationships. As the company continues to grow, it is investing in future leaders who want to make a meaningful impact on the direction and success of the business.

Job Description

Lead business development efforts and cultivate relationships with owners, developers, brokers, architects, and industry partners to generate negotiated construction opportunities. Serve as a key representative of the company at networking events, industry associations, and client meetings throughout the Greater Milwaukee market. Manage and strengthen existing client relationships while identifying opportunities for repeat and referral business. Participate in preconstruction, budgeting, and proposal development activities to help secure new projects. Collaborate closely with operations leadership to ensure a seamless transition from project pursuit through project execution. Gain hands-on exposure to project management responsibilities, including bidding, buyout, site visits, and project oversight, to better understand and communicate the company's value proposition. Work directly with executive leadership on strategic growth initiatives and long-term business planning. Help shape the future of the organization as part of a succession plan with a defined path toward Vice President-level leadership. Drive revenue growth by expanding the company's network and increasing pipeline opportunities in targeted market sectors. Support a collaborative, relationship-driven culture focused on client satisfaction, repeat business, and long-term partnerships.

The Successful Applicant

10+ years of commercial construction industry experience with a strong understanding of negotiated project delivery. 5+ years of experience winning work, managing client relationships, or leading business development efforts for a general contractor or construction manager. Established network within the Greater Milwaukee construction market, with proven relationships among owners, developers, architects, engineers, and industry stakeholders. Demonstrated track record of acquiring new clients, retaining existing clients, and growing project pipelines. Deep knowledge of construction sales, preconstruction, budgeting, estimating, and fee-based contract negotiations. Experience serving in roles such as Project Executive, Senior Preconstruction Manager, Senior Project Manager, Business Development Manager, or similar leadership positions. Able to build trust with clients while collaborating effectively with operations, preconstruction, and project management teams. Comfortable representing the company at networking events, industry associations, and client meetings. Entrepreneurial mindset with the desire to help shape the future direction of a growing company. Strong communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills. Self-starter who can work independently, take ownership of results, and create opportunities from existing relationships. Team-oriented leader who balances confidence and ambition with humility and collaboration. Project management experience is highly desirable, allowing them to understand and communicate how projects are delivered from preconstruction through closeout. Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, Business, Finance, or a related field preferred. Motivated by a long-term opportunity that offers a path to Vice President, executive leadership, and potential ownership.

What's on Offer

Base salary of $140,000 to $160,000, depending on experience. First-year On-Target Earnings (OTE) of approximately $200,000+ through a combination of salary and commission. Customized commission structure designed collaboratively to align incentives and long-term success. Defined 2-year path to Vice President-level leadership responsibilities. Potential opportunity for future ownership/equity participation based on performance and contribution to company growth. 75% employer-paid healthcare premiums. $500/month vehicle allowance. 3% 401(k) company match. Unlimited PTO (within reason). 8 paid holidays annually. Company credit card for business-related expenses. Phone allowance.
