Location: Minneapolis, MN

Schedule: M-F Business Hours

Estimator Job Description:

PrideStaff is working with a leading independent distributor of interior finish and specialty commercial building materials in search of an Estimator on a Direct Hire basis. The Estimator is responsible for building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, identifying new business opportunities within those accounts, material estimating and bidding projects, timely follow-up on bids, and ensuring client satisfaction by proactively managing client needs throughout the project to ultimately drive business success. The Estimator is a full-time, Direct Hire, position in Minneapolis, MN.

 

Estimator Job Responsibilities:

  • Review Bid Requests to Scope Projects for Material Needs Specified and Shown on Plans, Working With General Contractors and Other Project Team Members to Provide Solutions & Material Pricing
  • Assess Architectural Plans & Specifications to Accurately Estimate & Bid Project Materials
  • Provide Complete, Informative & Accurate Material Estimates of Specified Products With Detailed Summaries of Any Discrepancies and/or Qualifications
  • Identify Opportunities for Alternative Material Options, With Timely Submittal of Substitution Requests
  • Resolve Discrepancies Through RFIs & Submit Bids in Advance of Bid Deadlines
  • Create & Provide Supporting Documentation, Submittals, and/or Closeout Documentation
  • Provide Timely Bid Follow-Up, Gathering Detailed Job Tracking Intelligence After Each Bid
  • Track & Analyze Metrics on Material Estimating, Sales Volume & Gross Margin
  • Coordinate Material Procurement & Delivery of Materials as Well as Manage Project Timeframes & Communication With Clients
  • Develop & Foster Deep Client Relationships Through Proactive, Strategic Touchpoints and Regular Client Visits
  • Communicate Strategically With Clients on Material Bid Requests, Job Follow-Up, Market Intelligence, and How to Grow Business Together
  • Assist With Walk-In, Call-In, & Other Non-Assigned Client Sales

 

Estimator Job Requirements & Working Conditions:

  • Associate Degree or Higher, or Equivalent Material Estimating Experience Required
  • 3+ Years of Material Estimating, Project Management, or Sales Experience Required (Preferably in Distribution, Construction, or Manufacturing)
  • Detailed Material Estimating & Project Management Skills With Strong Expertise in Construction Documents
  • Strong Understanding of Construction Management Principles & Practices
  • Proactive, Self-Directed Initiative With Collaborative Sales Skills & Flexibility in a Fast-Paced Environment
  • Excellent Organizational, Time Management, & Attention to Detail Skills With the Ability to Prioritize
  • Skilled in Building Rapport & Growing Positive, Partnering Client Relationships With Integrity
  • Excellent Verbal & Written Communication Skills
  • Strong Product Expertise & Value Generation to Clients
  • Robust Working Knowledge of Microsoft Office, Estimating Software, & Other Relevant Technology
