Title: Project Engineer

Employment Type: 3-Month Temporary-to-Hire

Industry: Aerospace/Defense Manufacturing

Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm

As a Test Technician, you ll be responsible for leading and coordinating the planning, execution, and control of engineering project activities of moderate complexity. Working closely with the Project Chief Engineer (PCE), Project Manager, and technical leads, you will take ownership of assigned work packages, ensures process compliance, tracks and drives milestone completion, coordinates resources, and promotes effective communication across multidisciplinary teams. You ll work with limited supervision and provide guidance to less-experienced project engineers and team members.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead planning and organization of project tasks, deliverables, and schedules with the Project Manager and PCE.
  • Coordinate day-to-day activities for specific work packages or sub-projects.
  • Ensure project scope, schedule, and quality objectives are met.
  • Track project progress against baselines and update action items, dashboards, and reports.
  • Collect, analyze, and consolidate technical and project data for reviews.
  • Highlight trends, risks, and recommendations in management and customer reports.
  • Facilitate communication among cross-functional teams, technical staff, management, and customers.
  • Lead or support selected internal and external meetings.
  • Ensure required documentation is created, maintained, and stored per company processes.
  • Monitor task completion and proactively identify, analyze, and escalate issues or risks.
  • Support preparation, review, and distribution of project plans, schedules, and progress reports.
  • Assist in resource planning, assignment updates, timekeeping, and material requests.
  • Participate in and document meetings, tracking decisions and driving closure of action items.
  • Ensure compliance with engineering processes, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Guide and support junior team members in applying project and engineering processes.
  • Travel requirements: Occasional travel (general guideline: 10%) within U.S/Outside U.S.
  • Other duties may be assigned.
  • Additional Hours: Evening/night hours may be required. Extra hours may be required during business peaks

Requirements:

  • Bachelor s Degree in Engineering, Science, or a relevant technical field
  • 4+ years of relevant experience in engineering, project coordination, or a related project support/lead role
  • Experience working in regulated industries (e.g., aerospace, medical, automotive, defense)
  • Demonstrated experience supporting and coordinating multidisciplinary projects; aerospace or industrial sector experience preferred.
  • Proven ability to manage assigned tasks and work packages with limited supervision.
  • Familiarity with project management principles, lifecycle phases, and methodologies.
  • Proficiency with project management and productivity tools (e.g., MS Project, Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
  • Knowledge of engineering documentation, requirements management, and configuration management.
  • Experience leading work packages, technical meetings, or small cross-functional teams preferred
  • Exposure to project control concepts (e.g., cost/schedule tracking, earned value, KPI monitoring).
  • Interest in or coursework on project management fundamentals; progress toward a project management certification (e.g., CAPM, PMP, PRINCE2) is a plus.
  • Must be a U.S. person under ITAR regulations
