Description

We are seeking an experienced Project Engineer to join our client’s team in Spartanburg, SC in a direct hire role. The Project Engineer will be responsible for identifying, planning, implementing, and following up on both short- and long-term projects designed to improve production processes, productivity, safety, and overall operational performance.The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader who can work effectively across departments, communicate clearly, manage projects from start to finish, and help establish a culture of continuous improvement.Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and ensure effective collaboration between all departments.
  • Oversee facility and plant maintenance activities.
  • Manage building renovations, plant expansions, and equipment relocations.
  • Identify opportunities to improve work methods, automate processes, and implement new procedures.
  • Evaluate and recommend the purchase of new equipment.
  • Develop, plan, and implement short- and long-term projects with senior management approval.
  • Monitor special projects to ensure appropriate actions are taken and projects are completed on time and according to specifications.
  • Work with government officials and regulatory agencies to ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental requirements.
  • Lead ongoing process development and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Provide engineering and design support to the maintenance department.
  • Coordinate and inspect contracted work to ensure compliance with specifications, quality standards, and project requirements.
  • Assist with employee relations and address significant personnel concerns as needed.
  • Work closely with all departments to identify and improve plant health and safety conditions.
  • Support the development of a productivity-focused culture and promote effective communication throughout the organization.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar or higher-level engineering/management position.
  • Experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment preferred.
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Management, or a related field;
    OR
  • Equivalent relevant education and professional experience.
  • The successful candidate should have hands-on knowledge and experience in: 
    • Preventive maintenance programs and procedures. 
    • Facility operations and maintenance
    • Equipment repair, modification, and improvement
    • Project management
    • Plant expansions and equipment relocations
    • Supplier and outside contractor negotiations
    • Computer systems and technology
    • Budget preparation and cost forecasting
    • Material, manpower, and financial planning
    • Supervisory practices and leadership techniques
    • Team supervision, development, and mentoring
    • Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement
