The Project Engineer / Procurement Specialist serves as the operational link between Construction, Purchasing, and Field Operations to ensure projects are fully prepared for successful execution. This position is responsible for project breakdowns, budgeting support, scheduling coordination, procurement, logistics planning, material management, Procore administration, and vendor coordination. The role works closely with Area Managers, Construction Managers, Purchasing, Inventory, Designers, and Vendors to ensure projects remain on schedule, materials arrive just in time, budgets are maintained, and field teams have the resources needed to execute projects efficiently.
Responsibilities:
- Complete project breakdowns, budgeting support, scheduling, and Procore administration.
- Drive production pipeline with the Area Manager based on COE dates.
- Maintain accurate project schedules and milestone reporting.
- Coordinate communication between Area Managers, Construction Managers, Purchasing, Inventory, and Design.
- Monitor project milestones and proactively identify scheduling conflicts.
- Assist Area Managers with crew scheduling and subcontractor coordination.
- Verify project information, material breakdowns, and documentation are complete prior to project start.
- Prepare weekly project status reports, hot lists, and forward planning reports.
- Procure materials for assigned projects while maintaining budget expectations.
- Solicit competitive bids when appropriate.
- Monitor material lead times and proactively plan deliveries.
- Maintain Just-in-Time (JIT) material deliveries aligned with project schedules.
- Research products, verify specifications, and confirm order accuracy.
- Review purchase orders and shipping documentation for completeness.
- Track project purchasing costs and assist in maintaining project budgets.
- Resolve procurement issues before they impact production.
- Other duties may be assigned to meet business needs
- Knowledge of purchasing, inventory management, and supply chain processes.
- Procore experience preferred.
- Understanding of construction plans and specifications.
- Strong analytical and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong problem-solving abilities.
- High level of attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Preferred bilingual (Spanish).
Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Associates or Bachelors degree in Construction Management, Supply Chain, Business, or related field preferred.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in residential construction, procurement, project coordination, or logistics.
- Experience with construction scheduling and project coordination.
Physical Requirements:
- Sit for extended periods while working at a computer and reviewing project documentation.
- Frequently use a computer, keyboard, telephone, and standard office equipment.
- Read and interpret construction plans, contracts, schedules, specifications, and purchasing documents.
- Occasionally travel to project sites.
- Occasionally stand, walk, bend, reach, and lift materials or office items up to 25 pounds.
- Maintain visual acuity to review detailed drawings, spreadsheets, contracts, and electronic documentation.
