A growing plastics manufacturer in Kentucky is looking for a Project Engineer to manage tooling and launch activities for new and existing injection-molded products. This role is a great fit for an engineer who enjoys owning projects from concept through production and coordinating across customers, tooling suppliers, and internal teams.
Primary Duties
Lead engineering projects for new plastic parts, molds, and tooling modifications from kick-off through PPAP and production handoff.
Coordinate design for manufacturability (DFM) reviews with customers and tooling vendors for injection-molded components.
Create and manage project timelines, open issues lists, and status updates for internal and external stakeholders.
Partner with process engineering and tooling to support mold trials, sampling, and process optimization.
Ensure the required documentation (drawings, BOMs, control plans, work instructions) is completed for project launch.
Drive cost, quality, and timing objectives while balancing customer requirements and plant capabilities.
Qualifications / Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Plastics, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering.
3+ years of project or manufacturing engineering experience, preferably in plastics or injection molding.
Familiarity with mold tooling, gating, cooling, and common plastic resins.
Strong organizational skills and experience managing multiple projects in parallel.
Comfortable communicating with customers, suppliers, and cross-functional plant teams.
CAD proficiency and basic understanding of GD&T are preferred.
