A growing plastics manufacturer in Kentucky is looking for a Project Engineer to manage tooling and launch activities for new and existing injection-molded products. This role is a great fit for an engineer who enjoys owning projects from concept through production and coordinating across customers, tooling suppliers, and internal teams.

 Primary Duties

  • Lead engineering projects for new plastic parts, molds, and tooling modifications from kick-off through PPAP and production handoff.
  • Coordinate design for manufacturability (DFM) reviews with customers and tooling vendors for injection-molded components.
  • Create and manage project timelines, open issues lists, and status updates for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Partner with process engineering and tooling to support mold trials, sampling, and process optimization.
  • Ensure the required documentation (drawings, BOMs, control plans, work instructions) is completed for project launch.
  • Drive cost, quality, and timing objectives while balancing customer requirements and plant capabilities.

Qualifications / Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Plastics, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering.
  • 3+ years of project or manufacturing engineering experience, preferably in plastics or injection molding.
  • Familiarity with mold tooling, gating, cooling, and common plastic resins.
  • Strong organizational skills and experience managing multiple projects in parallel.
  • Comfortable communicating with customers, suppliers, and cross-functional plant teams.
  • CAD proficiency and basic understanding of GD&T are preferred.
