    Project Engineer Intern

    Your Role

    As a Project Engineer Intern, our goal is to prepare you for a full-time Project Engineer role. During your internship, you will be exposed to many aspects of the construction process and will work hand-in-hand with your Project Team to help coordinate construction activities and ensure a profitable, well-constructed, safe project is delivered.

    What You''ll Do

    Over the course of the summer internship, you will gain hands-on exposure to the following areas:

    Project Documentation & Drawings

    • Learn to navigate Procore and work toward Procore certification
    • Update and track drawings against RFIs, ASIs, and Addenda
    • Review submittals against drawings and specifications, maintain the submittal schedule, and keep the procurement log current
    • Review RFIs against plans and specifications before submitting

    Field Support & Self-Perform Work

    • Assist the Superintendent with daily logs, photos, schedule updates, and foreman meeting minutes
    • Support quality control and punchlist efforts, verifying installed products match approved submittals and specification requirements
    • Work alongside Tarlton's self-perform crew on flatwork concrete, carpentry, and general labor activities; track crew sizes, production rates, and labor plans

    Safety

    • Meet the Safety Team, administer weekly Toolbox Talks and site safety orientation, and conduct weekly Jobsite Safety Analysis Reports (JSARs) and Task Safety Behavioral Observations (TSBOs)

    Scheduling & Estimating

    • Develop preliminary project schedules using Microsoft Project, Excel, or Primavera (P6), and assist with schedule communication and supporting visual aids

    • Support estimating through quantity take-offs, quote solicitation, and pricing review, including participation on a bid day

    • Develop project-specific subcontract scoping notes and participate in scoping meetings

    Professional Development

    • Build ownership, communication, and networking skills through team meetings, intern events, and company activities
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

    Experience

    Education & Certifications

    Current college student seeking a degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or other relevant degree

    Tools & Software

    Over the summer, you''ll gain experience working in Viewpoint, Procore, Primavera, Microsoft Outlook, and Teams.

    Work Location, Environment & Travel Requirements

    • Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment where the noise level is usually quiet.
    • If required, the employee may work from a jobsite trailer on occasion or owner-designated office location. The noise level in the work environment can be loud due to heavy equipment, jack hammers, pneumatic tools, etc. These sounds can be non-stop throughout the day.
