My client is an award-winning, mid-sized general contractor that has built a strong presence in the Indianapolis market over the past 25+ years. They've maintained a close-knit, family-feel culture while delivering major commercial projects and partnering with some of the industry's biggest names, including Turner and Pepper Construction. What really sets them apart is their people-first culture, open-door leadership, and commitment to promoting and developing talent from within. With a strong pipeline and significant growth projected ahead, they're looking to bring on talented individuals who want to grow with the business and build a long-term career.
The Project Engineer's key responsibilities include owning projects from the ground up with true cradle-to-grave exposure-from preconstruction and buyout through field execution and final turnover. Work shoulder-to-shoulder with the PM and Superintendent, gaining hands-on experience managing complex commercial projects. Take ownership of critical project controls, including RFIs, submittals, change orders, cost tracking, and closeout. Drive project coordination across owners, subcontractors, project management, and field teams to keep scope, schedule, and quality on track. Fast-track your path to Project Manager by building the field and operational experience needed to ultimately run your own projects.
MPI does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, national origin, age, disability, veteran status, marital status, or based on an individual's status in any group or class protected by applicable federal, state or local law. MPI encourages applications from minorities, women, the disabled, protected veterans and all other qualified applicants.
The successful Project Engineer will have 1-5 years of General Contractor experience with a foundation in commercial construction. Strong knowledge of construction administration, document control, and project coordination. Hands-on experience owning RFIs, submittals, project documentation, and tracking logs. Ability to support PMs with change orders, subcontractor coordination, invoicing, and job cost tracking. Exposure to preconstruction and estimating, including takeoffs and quantity calculations. Experience driving punch list, closeout, and final project turnover. Hungry, hands-on, and growth-driven, with the ambition to step into a Project Manager role and ultimately run projects independently.
What's on the offer includes a competitive base salary of up to $80K, depending on experience. Transparent, performance-based bonus structure with clear earning potential. Strong support and hands-on training to build and sharpen your project management skills. Comprehensive benefits package including health, dental, and vision insurance. 401(k) contributions to help support your long-term financial goals. Clear career development plan with defined opportunities to grow. Strong internal advancement opportunities as the company continues to expand. Laid-back, collaborative culture where you can take ownership while working alongside a supportive team.
