Collins is seeking a highly motivated Project Engineer I - Design to play a key role on our Western Division team located in Virginia Beach, VA. The ideal candidate will have a strong interest and background in structural design engineering who can bring creative design skills to a project team environment. This position requires the ability to perform both structural inspections and design, adhere to project timelines and budgets, and liaise with clients, contractors, and government agencies. Typical Duties and Responsibilities:

• Performs structural engineering computations according to engineering standards and practices.
• Provides technical engineering expertise to ensure that projects comply with all engineering standards, codes, specifications, and design instructions.
• Reviews, analyzes, and resolves field and/or design issues.
• Prepares complete engineering plans or reports.
• Demonstrates proficiency in computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment to prepare design documents.
• Makes design recommendations and/or adaptations.
• Responsible for engineering projects of varying size and complexity in field or office in accordance with plans and specifications.
• Adheres to project budgets and timelines and apprises the Project Manager of potential or anticipated changes in scope.
• Is available to attend client meetings or events outside of normal working hours.
• Actively observes and acts in an appropriate manner related to safety.
