Project Engineer - Heavy Civil Construction
Company Overview
ASIBACC delivers heavy civil construction projects throughout the Hudson Valley, with a strong focus on safe execution, high-quality work, and keeping demanding project schedules on track. Our teams work closely in the field to solve problems quickly and keep projects moving.
We value people who want to be close to the work, take ownership of their responsibilities, and grow into broader leadership roles on complex infrastructure projects.
The Opportunity
As a Project Engineer at ASIBACC, you will be involved in the day-to-day decisions that keep heavy civil projects on schedule and on budget. You will work directly with the Project Manager, Superintendent, field crews, and office team across multiple phases of construction.
This role is a strong fit for someone who wants to build toward full project management responsibility while gaining hands-on experience in project controls, scheduling, documentation, purchasing, quantities, and billing on active job sites.
What You'll Do
- Support the Project Manager with daily project management activities, including documentation, coordination, and communication with field and office teams.
- Work with the Superintendent and field team to maintain weekly look-ahead schedules and assist with monthly CPM schedule updates to keep work sequences on track.
- Manage RFIs and submittals, track open items, and follow up proactively so information gaps do not delay field work.
- Track daily quantities for production, payment, inspection, and cost analysis, and perform quantity takeoffs to support accurate owner billing and project accounting.
- Plan and order materials and supplies based on upcoming field needs, prepare purchase orders, coordinate deliveries, and help ensure materials are on site when crews need them.
- Maintain SWPPP inspection logs, reports, and related compliance documentation to support environmental and regulatory requirements.
- Monitor schedule, production, material, and cost trends and communicate potential issues to the Project Manager before they impact project performance.
What Success Looks Like
- Within 6–12 months, you are a go-to resource for both the field and project management team, trusted to keep project information current and accurate.
- Project documentation, RFIs, submittals, and SWPPP records are well organized, easy to access, and consistently completed on time.
- Quantities, production tracking, and billing backup are accurate, timely, and aligned with field activities and owner expectations.
- Weekly look-ahead schedules and monthly updates reflect real site conditions, with upcoming material and information needs identified early so the team stays ahead of the work.
What We're Looking For
- Experience in heavy civil construction in a project-based role such as Project Engineer, Field Engineer, construction intern, or similar.
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field, or equivalent construction experience.
- Ability to read plans, perform quantity takeoffs, track production, and manage project documentation with strong attention to detail.
- Strong organization, communication, and follow-through, with comfort working regularly in the field and interacting directly with crews, supervisors, and project leadership.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office; familiarity with HCSS HeavyJob and working knowledge of construction specifications, regulations, and industry practices are a plus.
