Role: Project Engineer- Clean Utilities
Duration: 6+ Months
Location: Wilson, NC
Position Overview
Our client is seeking a Clean Utilities Project Engineer to support capital projects for a GMP-regulated biotechnology manufacturing facility. This role will focus on the design, installation, startup, and operational readiness of critical clean utility systems, with an emphasis on Water for Injection (WFI) and Clean-in-Place (CIP) systems supporting drug substance manufacturing.
Key Responsibilities
Lead engineering support for WFI, CIP, and other clean utility capital projects.
Develop equipment specifications and support vendor selection and procurement.
Oversee equipment installation, startup, troubleshooting, and operational readiness.
Partner with engineering, operations, and construction teams to execute greenfield and brownfield projects.
Ensure clean utility systems are designed and implemented in compliance with GMP requirements.
Support engineering documentation, design reviews, and technical deliverables throughout the project lifecycle.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Mechanical, or related Engineering discipline.
5+ years of engineering experience in the biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry.
Hands-on experience with WFI, CIP, and other clean utility systems (Clean Steam, Purified Water, Process Gases, Clean Compressed Air).
Experience supporting the specification, installation, startup, and commissioning of clean utility equipment.
Background supporting capital projects within GMP-regulated manufacturing facilities.
Strong understanding of utility distribution systems, equipment design, and startup activities.
