Position Overview

Kiewit is seeking a Project Engineer to support the execution of utility-scale power delivery projects, including transmission, distribution, and substation construction. This field-based role works closely with Superintendents, Project Managers, clients, and craft teams to ensure projects are safely executed on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with quality standards.

Responsibilities

Field Engineering & Construction Support

  • Support daily construction activities on transmission, distribution, and substation projects.
  • Work closely with field supervision to ensure work is performed according to plans, specifications, and project requirements.
  • Assist with work planning, means and methods, and construction sequencing.

Project Coordination

  • Coordinate material deliveries, equipment, subcontractors, and project resources.
  • Track and manage RFIs, design changes, submittals, and project documentation.
  • Support communication between engineering, field operations, and clients.

Schedule & Cost Control

  • Assist with project scheduling, progress tracking, and production reporting.
  • Monitor labor productivity and support cost-control initiatives.
  • Participate in forecasting manpower, equipment, and material needs.

Quality Management

  • Verify construction activities comply with drawings, specifications, and quality requirements.
  • Support inspections, testing, commissioning, and project turnover activities.
  • Help identify and resolve construction and engineering issues.

Safety Leadership

  • Promote and support Kiewit's safety culture.
  • Participate in job hazard analyses, pre-task planning, and field safety audits.
  • Ensure all work is performed in compliance with company, client, and regulatory requirements.

Client & Stakeholder Support

  • Interface with clients, inspectors, engineers, suppliers, and subcontractors.
  • Assist in coordinating project meetings, reporting, and issue resolution.
  • Maintain strong working relationships with project stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil, Electrical, Mechanical, Construction Engineering, or related field.
  • 0-5+ years of construction, utility, power delivery, or industrial experience.
  • Strong interest in field construction and project execution.
  • Knowledge of transmission lines, substations, and utility infrastructure is preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and construction management software.

Base Compensation: $150,000/yr - $165,000/yr
