The Project Coordinator will support the LSU Health Shreveport Office for Innovation and Commercialization (OIC) in its mission to identify, protect, manage, and advance the institution's research innovations and strategic partnerships. Under the direction of the Executive Director, this position supports day-to-day innovation operations by coordinating invention disclosures, intellectual property records, agreement intake, document organization, faculty follow-up, meeting preparation, database management, and workflow tracking. The Project Coordinator will help ensure that OIC activities are organized, timely, and responsive by maintaining records, tracking project status, coordinating communication with faculty and external partners, and supporting preparation of reports, presentations, and technology-related materials. This role will also assist with innovation outreach, campus engagement activities, and future translational programming aligned with LSUHS research translation goals. The position requires strong organizational ability, sound judgment, critical thinking, professional communication skills, and the ability to work effectively with faculty, administrators, legal counsel, consultants, and external stakeholders. The role plays a key part in strengthening office operations, improving faculty service, supporting intellectual property administration, and expanding the reach and impact of LSUHS innovation. Regular attendance is required to perform the functions of this position. Incumbent will maintain a customer-oriented awareness in acknowledging and responding to needs as they occur that customer satisfaction is met at all times. Essential Position Functions & Duties 90% Innovation Operations, Program Coordination, and Faculty Support Independently gather information, identify missing requirements, follow up with stakeholders, and advance projects to completion while escalating issues requiring leadership review. Coordinate multiple concurrent projects and assignments while maintaining timelines, tracking action items, and ensuring timely completion of deliverables. Coordinate intake, review workflows, routing, tracking, and follow-up activities associated with research-related agreements, including CDAs, DUAs, MTAs, collaboration agreements, and other innovation-related activities to ensure timely processing and execution. Support intellectual property management activities by coordinating invention disclosure intake, maintaining patent and technology records, tracking deadlines and milestones, and facilitating communication between inventors, legal counsel, and LSUHS leadership. Maintain innovation management databases, portfolio records, agreement tracking systems, and reporting dashboards. Coordinate meetings, communications, and follow-up activities with faculty, administrators, legal counsel, consultants, industry representatives, and external partners. Assist faculty and staff in understanding agreement requirements, documentation needs, and innovation office processes while ensuring a high level of customer service. Serve as a resource to faculty, staff, and trainees by providing guidance on innovation office processes, required documentation, and available commercialization and partnership resources. Track office metrics, key performance indicators, disclosures, agreements, licensing activity, translational program participation, and other measures used to evaluate office performance. Prepare and maintain standard operating procedures, templates, guidance documents, and process improvement recommendations that enhance office efficiency and customer service. Assist with preparation of invention summaries, technology profiles, presentations, reports, briefing materials, and other documents supporting innovation and commercialization activities. Conduct background research on technologies, industries, companies, funding opportunities, and market sectors to support strategic decision-making and outreach efforts. Support implementation of innovation and translational initiatives, including faculty engagement programs, commercialization training activities, student programs, workshops, partnership development activities, and other programs supporting research translation and innovation. Support outreach and relationship-building activities with faculty, industry, economic development organizations, community partners, and other stakeholders aligned with LSUHS innovation goals. Assist with planning and coordination of innovation events, workshops, seminars, advisory meetings, and external engagement activities. Represent the Office for Innovation and Commercialization in a professional manner during meetings, events, and stakeholder interactions. Non-Essential Position Functions & Duties 10% Marginal Functions Participate in special projects, strategic initiatives, and professional development opportunities supporting innovation and research translation. Assist with campus engagement activities, educational programming, and outreach efforts that promote innovation and entrepreneurship. Perform other duties as assigned in support of the Office for Innovation and Commercialization.
