 Position OverviewShelby Materials is seeking an organized, analytical professional to support construction project research, bidding, technical submittals, customer analysis, and issue resolution. This position works closely with Sales, Quality Control, Dispatch, and Operations to identify project opportunities, organize bid requirements, prepare project documentation, and support timely follow-up on quality and service concerns.This is an excellent opportunity for someone interested in building a career in construction materials. You will gain hands-on experience with construction specifications, bid documents, customer data, concrete mix documentation, and ready-mix operations.Key ResponsibilitiesSales Leads & Project SupportResearch upcoming construction projects through bid boards, project invitations, and other project-lead sources.Identify prospective projects and coordinate qualified opportunities with the Outside Sales team.Organize and maintain project records, including specifications, drawings, addenda, deadlines, and bid documents.Monitor project updates and communicate relevant changes to the appropriate team members.Bid Specifications & SubmittalReview project specifications with Sales and Quality Control to identify concrete requirements, required submittals, and potential bid considerations.Support the preparation of quotes, bids, and project information.Learn to produce concrete mix-design documentation and prepare project submittal packages in coordination with Quality Control and SalesGather and maintain aggregate gradations, cement mill test reports, concrete break history, and other technical documentation required for project submittals.Provide project, customer, and technical information to Outside Sales Representatives as needed.Quality Control Issue CoordinationTrack quality control concerns reported by Sales, Dispatch, Quality Control, and Operations.Research issues using delivery tickets, driver information, test results, production records, order history, and other available documentation.Maintain an open-issues log, coordinate follow-up items, and work with the appropriate departments through resolution.Help ensure issues receive timely follow-up and are documented accurately. QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Business, Construction Management, Engineering Technology, or a related field preferred. Equivalent relevant experience will also be considered.Comfortable working with data, spreadsheets, documents, and multiple software systems.Ability to analyze information and identify patterns or inconsistencies.Able to manage multiple projects and follow open items through completion.Interest in learning concrete mix designs, specifications, construction drawings, and the ready-mix industry.Ability to work independently while coordinating effectively with multiple departments. Preferred:Experience in construction, construction materials, sales support, estimating, project coordination, or quality control.Knowledge of construction specifications and drawings.Experience with BuildingConnected, Procore, or similar bidding/project management platforms.Ready-mix concrete experience or knowledge. About Shelby MaterialsShelby Materials delivers high-quality concrete, on-time and in-spec, to a wide variety of customers and jobs.Founded on Veterans Day in 1951, Shelby Materials is based in Shelbyville, Indiana, and has 12 locations serving Central Indiana.
