About Harris County Housing & Community Development:
Harris County Housing & Community Development provides life-enhancing projects and programs to residents of Harris County.
Our services include spurring community investment through the provision of home-buying programs, partnering with community members and housing developers to build diverse housing options that uplift communities and offer other assistance that support community building.
Project Coordinator Overview:
The project coordinator is responsible for monitoring public facility and infrastructure projects for compliance with federal, state, and county guidelines. This position coordinates and monitors construction and related activities essential to the successful implementation of projects funded and approved by the State of Texas, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, and other state and/or federal funding agencies.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Coordinates, implements, monitors, and evaluates programs which include developing program design and coordinating the implementation of monitoring.
Reviews program records, goals, and objectives; tracks procedures and program correspondence.
Coordinates the monitoring of programs through other department offices and monitors directly as needed assigned programs for compliance with established guidelines.
Works with sub-recipients to develop and establish work procedures.
Visits project and program sites to determine compliance with stated program objectives.
Provides technical assistance whenever necessary and confers and meets with sub-recipients of programs to address programs as needed.
Assists sub-recipients in developing procedures to correct program deficiencies.
Tracks project budgets and processes invoices. Prepares contracts for programs in coordination with the county attorney.
Other duties as assigned.

Proficiency in word processing and spreadsheet applications such as Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.
Good organization, verbal, and written communication skills.
Ability to research methods and techniques, methods of report presentation, supervisory principles and practices.
Ability to maintain quantity and quality control over assigned projects.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, county, state and federal officials and the public.
Ability to learn federal guidelines and regulations relating to housing and community development programs, specifically programs funded through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, or similar programs designed to respond to disaster declarations.

Has the ability to enter and correct data, modify a workbook, format a worksheet, and use printing functions. Understands the different database concepts and structures and is familiar with data validation and is able to create a simple presentation in PowerPoint, run it, and print it.
Entry Level:
A person with this level of skills has the ability to open, create, save and modify documents in Word, send and receive email in Outlook and create spreadsheets in Excel. Format documents for printing, comfortable using the printer menu to preview documents. Has ability to change the font, the margins, insert or delete pages and use the built-in spellchecker and grammar check.
