    Position Overview

We are seeking a Project Controls Coordinator I to join a project execution team in Duluth, MN. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong analytical mindset who wants to continue developing their career in Project Controls, cost management, forecasting, budgeting, and project reporting.

Working under the direction of the Supervisor, Project Controls, this position will support project teams with cost-related activities throughout project execution. The role will work closely with Project Managers, Field Cost Analysts, Engineering Cost Associates, and the broader Project Controls team while utilizing EcoSys, Oracle, Excel, and other project controls systems.

This opportunity could be a strong fit for someone with experience in project coordination, project cost tracking, financial analysis, cost controls, or project accounting who is ready to deepen their Project Controls experience.

    What You’ll Be Doing

    • Analyze and maintain project costs at the Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) level, including control budgets, incurred costs, commitments, and forecasts.
    • Provide Project Managers and project teams with accurate and timely cost information and reporting.
    • Perform earned value measurements to identify potential impacts to project forecasts.
    • Support monthly project close activities and prepare monthly project reports.
    • Develop comparative capital cost estimates using Excel and EcoSys.
    • Prepare and document project change orders in accordance with Project Management Office standards.
    • Meet regularly with Project Managers to review project costs, discuss variances, and update forecasts.

    • Work closely with Project Managers and Field Cost Analysts to stay informed of project progress, scope changes, schedule impacts, costs, and emerging issues.
    • Provide support and guidance to Engineering Cost Associates related to work order maintenance, invoice coding, and validation.
    • Participate in project meetings to remain current on changes involving scope, cost, schedule, and overall progress.
    • Communicate and collaborate with the broader Project Controls team throughout project execution.

    What We’re Looking For

    • Four-year degree or an equivalent combination of education and related experience.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Intermediate or better Excel skills with the ability to work comfortably with detailed project and financial data.
    • Experience with Oracle, project cost management systems, and Microsoft Office.

    • Strong attention to detail with an understanding of the importance of data reconciliation and cost accuracy.
    • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
    • Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities and bring potential issues forward when needed.
    • Comfortable working independently while contributing effectively within a team environment.
    • Ability to build productive working relationships with Project Managers, stakeholders, contractors, and other project team members.

    Experience That Could Translate Well

You don’t necessarily need to have spent your entire career with a “Project Controls” title. Experience involving project budgets, cost tracking, forecasting, actuals and commitments, variance analysis, financial reporting, WBS structures, change orders, invoice validation, or project coordination may translate well into this position.
