About this Role:

Consertus seeks experienced Project Cost Controllers for a position based in the western suburbs of Chicago.

Candidates will be responsible for cost control activities on assigned capital construction projects including integration of data from multiple sources to establish, maintain, and analyze commitments, actual costs, and forecasts against established budgets and funding sources. Includes working with information from the client’s financial systems and supporting cost databases to consolidate, analyze, and produce monthly and quarterly cost reports for internal management use and to meet external reporting requirements to regulatory agencies.

Key Responsibilities:

• Interact with client project managers and operations staff to obtain information on project status.
• Participate in the development of overall project budgets including direct construction costs, indirect implementation costs, and appropriate contingencies.
• Analyze funding, expenditures, and commitment information for accuracy.
• Run queries utilizing the client ERP system and support the accrual process.
• Assist project managers with their project cost updates.
• Update financial forecasts on a monthly basis.
• Develop library of historical data to continually refine estimates and anticipated costs.
• Generate regular financial reports.
• Lead monthly project financial review meetings for assigned projects. Review the project job cost report regarding, labor, equipment, material, and change order logs. Analyze cost variances to established budgets and metrics for resolution with the project team.
• Assure integrity of the information contained in project cost reports.
• Assist with internal preparatory and regulatory audit activities as needed.

Qualifications/Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business or equivalent experience required.
• Minimum 5-10 years of project controls experience with an emphasis on cost management.
• Strong Excel spreadsheet skills required. Management of large spreadsheets, pivot tables, and coding to perform required analysis and reporting.
• Familiarity with capital program financial reporting required.
• Experience in a Program Management Office (PMO) setting preferred.
• Well-developed communications skills required to effectively engage all levels of the project team, client organization, designers and contractors in capital cost related matters.
• Must be able to provide concise status reports and assessments of critical issues.

Working Hours / Compensation Range

• Hybrid Work Schedule
• $70,000-$90,000 annually
