Experience: 8+ years, licensure preferred
Education: Professional degree in architecture from an accredited program
Requires at least eight years of related experience and a minimum of four completed projects. Participates in conceptual design and provides full support through the entire project lifecycle. Serves as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) on specialized systems. Liaises with Project Management, other architectural staff, and consultants. Develops and represents the lead technical viewpoint on projects. Coordinates with the Principal-in-Charge/Designer, PM, and Director of Specifications on technical solutions and product strategies. Project experience and depth of knowledge differentiate this position from senior-level roles.
Qualifications
- Architectural licensure and sustainable design certification preferred
- Minimum 8 years of relevant experience and at least 4 completed projects comparable to WDG's typical project scope and scale
- Intermediate-to-senior level staff with proven leadership in managing project workflow and collaborating with senior leadership
- Knowledgeable and experienced in design, building construction, building codes, and zoning regulations
- Adept at collaborating with full project teams, including design and technical personnel, to achieve common goals
Responsibilities
- Lead and independently coordinate the work of a multidisciplinary team through all project phases, consulting with clients and senior leadership
- Implement QA/QC and best practice standards for in-house team and consultant deliverables, working in tandem with the Project Manager
- Ensure established design intent is incorporated into detailed documentation
- Develop design and technical documentation in conjunction with the Senior Project Designer
- Monitor the design process from concept through construction administration to ensure consistent and proper execution
- Responsible for technical resolution and inter-discipline coordination
- Coordinate with Specification Writer to develop specifications and align drawings
- Establish overall document production strategies and sheet allocation utilizing a "cartoon set," defining file organization and software parameters
- Foster collaborative working relationships with the Project Leadership Team, client, and design consultants
- Supervise preparation of working drawings by team members; mentor and direct less experienced staff
- Lead team meetings to resolve project issues, discipline coordination, schedule adherence, and technical challenges
- Prepare and distribute meeting minutes for all project-related meetings
- Incorporate Integrated Sustainable Design solutions into projects
- Prepare graphic materials, models, and design studies for presentations
- Work primarily on one project in the design/documentation phase alongside the Project Manager and Senior Project Designer
- Establish client/internal meetings and participate in agency reviews for code compliance
- Convey firm advocacy both internally and externally
- Perform the role of Construction Contract Administrator when required
Skillsets
- Extensive experience with Revit, AutoCAD, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite, Bluebeam, and MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Excellent written, verbal, analytical, and problem-solving skills
