Project Architect | Commercial and Residential Design

We are seeking a highly motivated and technically minded Project Architect for our client to lead complex, highly detailed custom residential and/or commercial projects from inception through completion. The Project Architect will serve as the primary liaison between clients and design teams. This role manages resources, schedules, and budgets while upholding exceptional design standards and client relationships.

Job Responsibilities

• Work with principals and Project Managers to oversee all phases of projects from schematic design through construction administration, including permitting and plan check.
• Act as prime point of contact for Construction Administration.
• Monitor, direct, and oversee contractor activities on-site and during construction administration.
• Act as primary point of contact for consultant coordination.
• Lead the design, detailing, and full documentation of the interior & exterior architecture on selected projects.
• Generate outline specifications and schedules.
• Assign and delegate tasks to staff members and effectively manage deadlines for production, renderings, presentations, and research.
• Produce and manage project schedules, work plans, client correspondence, and documentation.
• Review design and documentation for Planning and Building Code compliance.
• Review and direct design presentations for clients and internal teams.
• Conduct formal redlining and peer reviews for rigorous project QA/QC.
• Directly support Project Managers in tracking scope, deliverables, and project milestones.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 7-10 years of experience, including interior architecture for high-end residential, multi-family, hospitality, and/or commercial projects.
• Degree from an NAAB-accredited school of architecture.
• Strong capability in building/planning code review and providing technical guidance.
• Expertise in construction detailing and assemblies, construction documents and experience in producing a complete construction document set, including schedules and specifications.
• Experience leading, mentoring, and inspiring junior staff – managing the delegation of production while simultaneously maintaining responsibility for project documentation and executing the design vision.
• Proficiency in Construction Administration software and tools (Procore or similar), with experience directing CA responses and workflows.
• Proficiency in Revit; AutoCAD is a plus.
• Strong proficiency in standard word processing and spreadsheet applications (e.g., MS Office, Google Workspace).
• Familiarity with the Four Corners project management process standards.
• Licensed architect in California or in the process of licensure.
