Location: Denver, CO (Minneapolis, MN also accepted)

Onsite Flexibility: Hybrid Onsite Tuesday Thursday; remote other days

Contract Details

  • Position Type: Contract
  • Contract Duration: 11 months (with potential for conversion to FTE)
  • Pay Rate: $110.00 $130.00 / Hour (USD)
  • Shift / Schedule: Core hours: 9 AM 4 PM CST; 40-hour work week
  • Travel Requirements: Some travel required (quarterly)

Job Summary

The client is undertaking a major CIS modernization initiative, transitioning from a 25-year-old legacy billing system to SAP S/4 HANA for Utilities (IS-U) and Salesforce Energy and Utilities Cloud for Call Center and CRM capabilities. This is a multi-year (4 5 year), high-visibility program. The CIS Solution Architect will design and govern end-to-end solutions across SAP, Salesforce, and other enterprise systems, ensuring alignment with Architecture Tenets and SAP Clean Core principles. The role expects a solid architecture background and methodology including multiple experiences solutioning across complex hybrid cloud and on-premise landscapes and the application of strong architectural principles. Experience with SAP S/4 functionality and technologies, integration via SAP BTP, SAP Data platforms (BDC), Salesforce, and AWS are preferred.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain end-to-end solution architecture for key financial, payment and collections end-to-end business processes across enterprise systems including SAP S/4, Salesforce, and supporting systems
  • Minimize customizations and enforce Clean Core principles
  • Identify new technology capabilities or patterns that might be required and align with architecture tenets and guidelines
  • Govern standards and best practices, minimizing customization
  • Lead design and implementation ensuring development aligns with proposed architecture
  • Collaborate with functional and technical teams
  • Ensure resiliency, scalability, security, and performance
  • Conduct architecture reviews and present at architecture review boards
  • Validate implementation against design

Required Experience

  • 10 years of architecture experience
  • 2 years SAP S/4 HANA Utilities (IS-U)
  • 2 years SAP BTP and Integration Suite
  • 4 years AWS experience
  • Expertise in enterprise-level solution architecture across multiple systems including hybrid scenarios
  • Strong architectural governance experience and solutioning skills

Nice-to-Have Experience

  • Experience with DevOps, CI/CD, TOGAF, LeanIX
  • Utility industry experience a plus

Required Skills

Technical Skills

  • Integration and data architecture skills (SAP BTP, AWS, IBM ACE preferred)
  • Cloud / Hybrid Architecture solutioning (AWS preferred)
  • Solutioning end-to-end architecture across complex ecosystems
  • Architecture solutioning including drafting options and providing a recommendation
  • Strong understanding of security, scalability, observability, resiliency, and performance design

Non-Technical Skills

  • Clear articulation of complex technical concepts to leaders, stakeholder management, and technical teams
  • Strong business acumen to align architectural decisions with strategic goals
  • Independent, accountable, and collaborative
  • Comfortable working across teams and vendors

Preferred Skills

  • SAP Certified Solution Architect or Technology Professional

Education Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Science, or equivalent experience (preferred)

Work Environment / Physical Requirements

  • Hybrid work model: onsite Tuesday through Thursday; remote other days
  • Preferred locations: Minneapolis, MN or Denver, CO
  • Some quarterly travel required
  • Core hours: 9 AM 4 PM CST; 40-hour work week

  • Corp-to-Corp: Generally not allowed; exceptions may apply for niche roles
  • Candidate should be open to future FTE conversion; conversion is limited to the client's operating states and sponsorship is not required (preferred)
