Project Accountant

About the Job

We are partnered with a leading construction and engineering company that is looking to add a Project Accountant to its team in Virginia. This is an opportunity to support large-scale construction projects and play a key role in job costing, project billings, budget analysis, profitability reporting, and vendor compliance. The ideal candidate will have strong accounting and analytical skills, experience in project accounting or construction accounting, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced project environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage project billings and ensure compliance with contract requirements.
• Perform budget-to-actual analysis and monitor project costs.
• Track job profitability and prepare project performance reports.
• Manage vendor compliance, insurance documentation, lien waivers, and W-9s.
• Maintain accurate project accounting records and reporting data.
• Support Project Managers with financial analysis and project status updates.
• Identify and resolve project-related accounting issues in a timely manner.

Ideal Candidate Profile

• 3-5+ years of project accounting, construction accounting, or related experience.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent experience preferred.
• Strong understanding of job costing, budgeting, and project financial reporting.
• Advanced Excel skills and strong analytical abilities.
• Highly organized with strong attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally with project teams.
