    What You'll Be Doing:


    As the Project Accountant, you'll play a key role in supporting the financial success of multiple projects by monitoring project costs, preparing financial reports, managing billing, and partnering with project managers throughout the project lifecycle. This position is ideal for someone with strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and experience in project-based accounting.


    Key Responsibilities of the Project Accountant:




    • Monitor project budgets, costs, and profitability throughout the project lifecycle.

    • Prepare and analyze project financial reports, forecasts, and cost-to-complete schedules.

    • Process customer billings, including progress billing, milestone billing, AIA billing applications (G702/G703), and change orders.

    • Prepare, review, and submit AIA payment applications and supporting documentation in accordance with contract requirements.

    • Review project-related expenses to ensure accurate coding and compliance with company policies.

    • Reconcile project accounts and assist with month-end and year-end close activities.

    • Collaborate with project managers to track financial performance, manage contract billings, and identify budget variances.

    • Support contract administration by reviewing project terms, billing requirements, retainage, lien waivers, and revenue recognition.

    • Assist with audits and provide financial documentation as needed.

    • Perform additional accounting and financial analysis duties as assigned.



    Preferred Qualifications of the Project Accountant:




    • 3+ years of experience in Project Accounting, Construction Accounting, Cost Accounting, or General Accounting in a project-based environment.

    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.

    • Experience preparing and processing AIA billing forms (G702/G703), progress billings, retainage, and change orders.

    • Experience working with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics, Sage, Viewpoint, Deltek, Epicor, or QuickBooks is highly preferred.

    • Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including PivotTables, VLOOKUP, XLOOKUP, SUMIFS, and financial reporting.

    • Experience with project budgeting, job costing, revenue recognition, WIP reporting, progress billing, and contract accounting.

    • Strong understanding of month-end close, account reconciliations, and financial reporting.

    • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

    • Strong communication skills with the ability to partner effectively with project managers, customers, and cross-functional teams.

    • Experience in construction, engineering, industrial manufacturing, technology integration, infrastructure, systems installation, or specialty contracting is highly preferred.
