Project Accountant
Location: Portage, IN (Onsite)
Salary: $62,000–$72,000 annually
Our client is seeking a Project Accountant to support the financial management of construction projects from project setup through final billing. This role partners closely with Project Managers to ensure accurate billing, maintain project financial records, manage accounts receivable, and support month-end accounting activities.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and submit monthly AIA billings (G702/G703) and construction draw packages.
- Partner with Project Managers to ensure accurate project billing and timely invoice submission.
- Process conditional, unconditional, and final lien waivers.
- Track retainage, change orders, and contract billing requirements.
- Maintain customer billing portals and compliance documentation.
- Research and resolve billing discrepancies with customers and project teams.
- Follow up on outstanding invoices and collections.
- Process cash receipts and maintain accurate accounts receivable records in Sage 300.
- Prepare daily AR cash projections.
- Assist with month-end close, reconciliations, and other accounting functions as needed.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of accounting, project accounting, construction accounting, or billing experience.
- Experience with AIA billing, progress billings, or construction invoicing strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of retainage, lien waivers, and change orders is highly preferred.
- Experience with Sage 300 or similar ERP software preferred.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
