    Progressive Die Stamping Press Technician

    Location: Grandville, MI

    Reports To: Production Manager

Interfaces With: Production, Quality, Maintenance, Tool Room, Engineering, Steel Handling, Material Handling

    A day in this role

You arrive at our Grandville plant, review JobWeb and setup sheets, confirm SmartPAC counters, and walk the line: feeder, straightener, mandrel, sensors, lubrication. You bring the press up safely, feed the coil, and hit standard production rates while watching material flow, part quality, and equipment performance. You check parts with micrometers, calipers, gauges, and fixtures, documenting results in RFPRO, Plex, and SmartPAC. If you spot stock alignment drift or a sensor fault, you make authorized adjustments. For anything beyond your scope, you coordinate with Setup, Maintenance, or the Tool Room to get the line back to peak. Finished parts are stacked, labeled, banded, and moved to the next step. Before you leave the station, your 5S checks keep the area organized and safe for the next run.

    What you’ll own

    • Operate coil-fed automated stamping presses and related equipment (feeders, straighteners, mandrels, stackers, sensors, SmartPAC controls) per work and safety instructions.
    • Execute startups and shutdowns, coil changes, material feeding, lubrication checks, counter adjustments, and routine line activities.
    • Assist with die changes, prestaging, machine setups, and setup verification as trained and assigned.
    • Run to standard rates while monitoring quality, equipment condition, and production status to minimize downtime.
    • Use measuring devices and fixtures to inspect parts; record time, material usage, scrap, and rejects in RFPRO, Plex, and SmartPAC.
    • Identify nonconforming material and follow containment, reporting, and escalation processes.
    • Troubleshoot common issues (stock alignment, feeding, sensors, counters, lubrication, setup, and quality), making adjustments within your demonstrated authority.
    • Request timely assistance for tooling, maintenance, setup, or quality concerns beyond your scope; support cross-functional teams to restore production.
    • Stack, label, package, band, and move finished product to specification; maintain daily 5S and a clean, safe work center.
    • Assist and train teammates as assigned and support other production areas based on business needs.
