Location: Tulsa

Reports To: Sr. Director of Programs & Training

Department: Central Programs

FLSA Status: Exempt

Schedule: M-F 7:30am - 4pm, 40 weeks/year

Position Overview:

The Programs & Training Therapist is responsible for providing high-quality, transdisciplinary therapeutic services across Little Light House's Programs & Training initiatives. This includes direct therapeutic intervention within the Mobile Classroom program, which serves families through multiple classes each week, as well as contributions to curriculum development, staff and community training, and content creation for LLH Academy and other educational platforms.

This role serves as a key member of the transdisciplinary team, supporting children with a variety of diagnoses, including a strong emphasis on serving children on the autism spectrum. The transdisciplinary team utilizes neuro-affirming, child-centered approaches to support development across spiritual, cognitive, communication, motor, self-help, and social-emotional domains, while fostering meaningful engagement and participation for each child.

Programs & Training Therapists understand that Little Light House is a Christian ministry whose mission is to glorify God by improving the quality of life for children with special needs, their families, and their communities. They also support the vision of the Mobile Classroom to extend services beyond the traditional classroom and increase accessibility for families in the Tulsa community and beyond.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Mobile Classroom & Direct Therapeutic Support

  • Assist in setting up mobile classroom environments with appropriate equipment and therapeutic learning spaces; communicate any additional needs to the Lead Teacher

  • Collaborate with the transdisciplinary team to create flexible, engaging session routines that incorporate therapy, education, and parent involvement

  • Prepare and implement weekly therapeutic lesson plans aligned with the Bible-based curriculum, including appropriate adaptations for all students

  • Design and lead at least one therapeutic activity per session tied to the curriculum

  • Provide individualized therapeutic support and guidance to students and caregivers during sessions

  • Model effective transdisciplinary strategies for parents, caregivers, and volunteers

  • Engage, support, and direct volunteers as needed during sessions

  • Communicate with families via Brightwheel to provide follow-up support, answer questions, and reinforce learning

  • Assistive Technology & Therapeutic Support

  • Provide assistive technology (AT) support, including seating/positioning, sensory strategies, and AAC implementation within the Mobile Classroom and across programs as needed

  • Identify and communicate additional AT needs to leadership and collaborate on solutions

  • Consult with the transdisciplinary team to address behavioral or developmental concerns and implement appropriate interventions

  • Curriculum Development & Program Support

  • Assist in updating and enhancing the LLH curriculum, including revising existing therapy lesson plans and creating new content

  • Collaborate with leadership to ensure curriculum aligns with best practices and supports a transdisciplinary approach

  • Contribute to the development of new program offerings and resources that expand LLH's impact

  • Training, Education & Content Creation

  • Assist in the development of LLH Academy courses, including research, writing, editing, and consultation

  • Provide disability-specific training for staff, community organizations, and churches as requested

  • Support the creation of educational content, including blog posts, training materials, and written resources

  • Assist with podcast development, including script writing, content planning, and participation in recordings when needed

  • Participate in presentations, workshops, and training events as a representative of LLH

  • Team Collaboration & Initiative

  • Actively contribute as a member of a collaborative, transdisciplinary team

  • Demonstrate initiative in identifying needs, solving problems, and supporting program growth

  • Effectively manage time and independently prioritize responsibilities across multiple areas of focus

  • Maintain flexibility and adaptability within a dynamic, multi-faceted role

Supervision

  • The Programs & Training Therapist reports to the Sr. Director of Programs & Training and works under the direction of the Director of Curriculum & Instruction.

Qualifications & Skills Required

  • Holds a current OT or SLP license in the state of Oklahoma

  • Holds current CPR certification

  • Minimum of one year experience working with children with special needs (birth to six preferred)

  • Experience working with children with a variety of developmental needs, including autism spectrum disorder

  • Demonstrates a neuro-affirming, child-centered approach to therapy that respects each child's individual differences, communication style, and sensory needs

  • Current on all continuing education requirements

  • Committed to ongoing professional growth, including completion of required trainings such as LAMP certification, DIR Floortime courses, SOS Approach to Feeding training, and other role-specific continuing education

  • Valid driver's license and ability to safely operate a truck and toy hauler trailer, including transporting and setting up the Mobile Classroom

Working Conditions

  • Full time, exempt position.

  • Occasional evening and weekend hours required for events.

  • Ability to push, pull, lift, and carry 50lbs.
