Position Overview
Our client is seeking a Senior IBM Master Data Management (MDM) & Integration Developer / Programmer Analyst to provide ongoing development, maintenance, troubleshooting, and production support for enterprise-level Master Data Management applications.
The ideal candidate must have strong hands-on experience with IBM InfoSphere MDM v14.x Standard Edition (Virtual MDM), including MDM data models, entities, transactions, batch processing, configuration, customization, and troubleshooting. Strong hands-on experience with Apache Kafka is also required.
The selected candidate will support mission-critical applications, including the Master Person Index (MPI), Michigan Index Data Stewardship Portal (MIDSP), and Symmetry applications, while collaborating with business, infrastructure, database, and application teams.
Required Education
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
Required Experience & Skills
- 8+ years of software development experience supporting enterprise-scale systems.
- Strong hands-on experience with IBM InfoSphere MDM v14.x Standard Edition (Virtual MDM).
- Strong experience with MDM data models, entities, transactions, batch processing, configuration, customization, and troubleshooting.
- Hands-on experience with Apache Kafka.
- Strong production support and troubleshooting experience in complex enterprise environments.
- Ability to independently maintain, enhance, troubleshoot, and support complex applications with minimal supervision.
Preferred Experience & Technical Skills
- 8+ years of Java/J2EE development experience, including Java, JSP, and REST/SOAP web services.
- 5+ years of Linux/Unix experience, including command-line operations, log analysis, and system-level troubleshooting.
- Strong Apache Kafka experience, including:
- Topic creation and configuration
- Producer and consumer development
- Message-flow troubleshooting
- ZooKeeper and Kafka Food and Beverage concepts
- Strimzi Operator
- Experience with batch processing using WildFly and Kafka.
- Experience with WildFly application servers, including deployments, startup/configuration, health checks, and runtime troubleshooting.
- Experience integrating Kafka with WildFly-based applications and IBM MDM Standard Edition.
- Strong SQL development and optimization skills using Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server.
- Strong Linux/Unix Bash scripting skills.
- Experience creating and maintaining CRON jobs for batch and scheduled processing.
- Experience with Flowable is a strong plus.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines, preferably Azure DevOps and Azure Git repositories.
- Experience deploying and supporting applications in cloud and OpenShift/containerized environments.
- Familiarity with AWS and/or Azure.
- Exposure to OpenShift and Kubernetes is a strong plus.
- Experience with ELK / Elastic Stack for application monitoring, log analysis, and troubleshooting.
- Experience correlating logs across Kafka, WildFly, and IBM MDM.
- Experience supporting mission-critical production systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide ongoing maintenance, development, enhancement, and production support for MDM applications.
- Support and maintain Master Person Index (MPI), Michigan Index Data Stewardship Portal (MIDSP), and Symmetry applications.
- Gather requirements and develop high-level functional and technical specifications.
- Participate in the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
- Develop scripts using PowerShell, Bash, and other scripting technologies as required.
- Work with Database Administrators to develop, execute, and optimize SQL scripts.
- Create monthly reports and operational documentation for MDM applications.
- Work directly with clients to resolve application tasks, incidents, and support tickets.
- Install, configure, and deploy certificates on Windows and Linux systems.
- Collaborate with infrastructure teams, including Linux/Windows server and network teams, for maintenance and issue resolution.
- Develop prototypes, mock-ups, flowcharts, screen layouts, and system documentation as required.
- Assist with Enterprise Architecture Solution Assessment (EASA), hosting documentation, and firewall requirements.
- Design and execute test plans, test cases, and test reports.
- Create or collect test data and execute approved tests to validate application functionality.
- Support UAT, post-implementation testing, and production validation.
- Track defects, incidents, and application issues through resolution.
- Assist with Request for Change (RFC) processes for application and infrastructure changes.
- Maintain and update technical and system documentation following application upgrades and enhancements.
- Monitor applications across production and non-production environments.
- Provide application support to business users and client teams.
- Collaborate with business analysts, database administrators, infrastructure teams, and other technical stakeholders.
- Provide application oversight and technical guidance to teams integrating with the Master Person Index.
- Identify opportunities to improve application performance, data integrity, automation, security, and operational efficiency.
