Description

Major/Essential Functions

Develops and maintains automation solutions - Designs, writes, tests, and maintains scripts and programs to automate network-related tasks, including device configuration management, data collection, and operational workflows, ensuring solutions meet defined functional requirements and performance expectations.

Identifies and implements process improvements through automation - Evaluates existing network operational processes to identify repetitive or inefficient tasks; proposes and implements automation solutions that improve accuracy, reduce manual effort, and increase operational consistency.

Integrates systems using APIs and automation tools - Develops and supports integrations between network devices, management systems, and other platforms using vendor-provided APIs and standard interfaces; ensures reliable data exchange and appropriate error handling.

Collaborates with network engineers and technical staff - Works directly with engineers and technicians to gather requirements, validate automation outcomes, and refine solutions based on operational feedback; ensures developed tools align with real-world usage and support needs.

Tests, documents, and supports automation solutions - Performs functional testing and validation of scripts and tools; creates and maintains technical documentation for solutions; provides ongoing support, updates, and enhancements based on system changes or evolving requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

Working knowledge of basic networking concepts (e.g., network devices, configurations, protocols, and management practices) sufficient to develop and support automation solutions. Relevant technical skills in scripting, automation frameworks, and tools appropriate to the assigned area.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree with coursework in computer science, MIS, IT, or other related area plus three (3) years related full-time paid experience OR a combination of related education and/or experience. Applicants for this Security Sensitive Level II position will be subject to a criminal background check and must pass a drug and alcohol test after a conditional offer of employment has been extended, but before employment can be confirmed.

This position is designated as involving access to critical infrastructure systems and/or research, as defined by Texas Executive Order GA-48. As such, candidates must successfully complete a comprehensive background check prior to employment. Employees are required to comply with all applicable state and federal regulations related to the protection of critical infrastructure. Ongoing employment is dependent upon maintaining eligibility for access and successfully passing periodic security and compliance reviews.

Annualized Pay Range

$65,200 - $84,800 - $104,300
