CNC Machinist
Location: Danville, IL
Pay: $23.00 to $40.00 per hour, based on experience
A well-established manufacturing company partnered with Express Employment Professionals is seeking an experienced CNC Machinist to join its machining team. This position requires hands-on CNC mill and/or CNC lathe experience, along with proven programming ability using both Fanuc and Mazatrol controls.
This is not an entry-level CNC operator position. Qualified candidates must be able to perform machine setups, make program adjustments, inspect finished parts, and troubleshoot machining issues with limited supervision.
Job Responsibilities
- Set up and operate CNC mills and/or CNC lathes
- Program and edit CNC machines using Fanuc and Mazatrol controls
- Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and work instructions
- Select and install proper tooling, fixtures, and workholding
- Establish tool offsets and work coordinates
- Perform first-piece inspections and make necessary machine adjustments
- Use micrometers, calipers, gauges, and other precision measuring equipment
- Monitor machine performance and correct dimensional or quality issues
- Inspect completed parts to ensure they meet specifications and tolerances
- Maintain accurate production and inspection records
- Follow established safety, quality, and housekeeping procedures
- Assist with manual machining operations when needed
Required Qualifications
- Previous CNC machining experience with mills, lathes, or both
- Hands-on programming experience with Fanuc controls
- Hands-on programming experience with Mazatrol controls
- Ability to set up machines independently
- Ability to create, edit, or modify CNC programs at the machine
- Strong blueprint-reading skills
- Experience using precision measuring instruments
- Understanding of tooling, speeds, feeds, offsets, and tolerances
- Ability to troubleshoot machining and quality problems
- Reliable attendance and dependable transportation to Danville, Illinois
Preferred Experience
- Experience operating both CNC mills and CNC lathes
- Manual mill or manual lathe experience
- Experience machining close-tolerance components
- Familiarity with first-piece inspection and in-process quality checks
- Experience working in a custom, production, or precision-machining environment
Important Requirement
Candidates must have actual programming experience with both Fanuc and Mazatrol controls. Experience limited to loading parts, pressing cycle start, or operating pre-programmed machines will not meet the requirements of this position.
