About the Agency
The Mississippi State Treasury's College and Career Savings Division administers programs designed to help Mississippians prepare financially for education, career advancement, and retirement. The division serves as the program office for Mississippi College and Career Savings, which administers Mississippi's two college and career savings plans: • MACS - Mississippi Affordable College Savings • MPACT - Mississippi Prepaid Affordable College Tuition Policy and program activity for MACS and MPACT are governed by an independent Board of Directors. State Treasurer David McRae chairs the Board as part of his statutory responsibilities. The division is also responsible for the development, implementation, and administration of Mississippi Work and Save, a voluntary retirement savings program designed to expand access to retirement savings opportunities for Mississippi employers, employees, self-employed individuals, and other eligible workers. The division provides first-line customer service and troubleshooting assistance to current and prospective MACS and MPACT customers. As Mississippi Work and Save is implemented, the division will also provide education, administrative assistance, and customer support to participating employers, employees, self-employed individuals, and other program stakeholders. To promote its programs and give Mississippians a head start on saving, the division organizes and participates in a variety of events, educational initiatives, and outreach activities across the state. These efforts include MHSAA and MAIS championship game raffles and competitions, the College and Career Savings Mississippi Art Contest, employee benefit fairs, employer and community presentations, and other in-person and virtual outreach opportunities promoting MACS, MPACT, and Mississippi Work and Save.
About the Position
The individual selected for this position will provide customer service, administrative, outreach, and project support for MACS, MPACT, and Mississippi Work and Save. Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: • Providing introductory and educational information to current and prospective program participants • Assisting MACS and MPACT customers with account questions, transactions, and general program information • Troubleshooting customer issues and coordinating with internal staff and external service providers to identify appropriate solutions • Following up with customers to confirm that questions and concerns have been resolved • Supporting the implementation and ongoing administration of Mississippi Work and Save • Assisting employers, employees, self-employed individuals, and other eligible participants with Work and Save program information and support • Maintaining accurate records of customer communications, inquiries, and resolutions • Learning and using the computer systems and online platforms associated with MACS, MPACT, and Mississippi Work and Save • Assisting with special projects, reports, communications, presentations, and program materials • Participating in public events, employer meetings, benefit fairs, conferences, and other outreach activities • Providing professional and timely responses to customers, constituents, professional partners, and other stakeholders
What youll need to be Successful
A working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint, is essential to this position. The successful candidate must also possess the willingness and ability to learn new computer programs, account management systems, customer relationship management tools, and online platforms quickly. The individual will be required to work from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, and must be available for occasional in-state travel and participation in events outside of the office. Project management and organizational skills will be important to success in this position. The individual must be able to manage multiple customer matters, deadlines, projects, and program responsibilities simultaneously while maintaining accuracy and professionalism. The position requires exemplary telephone etiquette and a commitment to providing timely return calls and responses. Strong writing skills are also required to ensure that correspondence with customers, employers, stakeholders, and professional colleagues is clear, concise, professional, and free of grammatical errors. Because the College and Career Savings Division participates in public events and statewide outreach efforts, the individual must also be comfortable speaking with members of the public in a variety of settings and representing the Mississippi State Treasury professionally.
Preferred Qualifications
Typically requires a Bachelor's degree and 2-4 years of experience. Agency preferred qualifications: A bachelor's degree in communications, business, public administration, finance, marketing, or a related field and two to four years of experience working with the public are preferred. Experience in customer service, constituent services, financial services, public outreach, program administration, project coordination, or a related area is preferred but not required. Paid Personal Leave and Sick Leave
