About the Agency

The Mississippi Division of Medicaid responsibly provides access to quality health coverage for vulnerable Mississippians. Medicaid provides health coverage for eligible, low-income populations in Mississippi. These populations include children, low-income families, pregnant women, the aged and disabled.

About the Position

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to: • Identifying and updating valid Third-Party Liability (TPL) policies: Assist with reviewing and identifying potential third-party insurance coverage and ensuring that valid TPL policy information is accurately updated in the Medicaid system. This work directly supports the Medicaid programs responsibility to identify liable third parties and ensure Medicaid remains the payer of last resort. • Financial reporting: Produce, maintain, and review financial reports related to TPL activities, including reports used to monitor recoveries, payments, and other financial activity. The position assists in ensuring that financial information is accurate, timely, and available to management for monitoring and decision-making purposes. • Special projects: Perform special projects and assignments at the direction of managers to support program operations, process improvements, data reviews, reporting requirements, and other TPL initiatives. These assignments may require researching information, analyzing data, coordinating with various staff, and developing or maintaining documentation. • Program and operational support: Provide assistance to managers and program staff in monitoring workloads, resolving discrepancies, researching TPL-related issues, and coordinating information necessary to support daily operations and program requirements. • Data and records management: Assist with maintaining accurate program records, reviewing information for completeness and accuracy, and identifying discrepancies that may require correction or additional research. • Other duties as assigned: Perform additional duties and responsibilities necessary to support the operational and programmatic needs of the Office of Recovery and the Third-Party Liability program.

The position requires a combination of administrative, analytical, technical, communication, and problem-solving skills necessary to effectively support the Third-Party Liability program and the Office of Recovery. The following skills are essential to successfully perform the duties of the position: 1. Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills • Ability to review and analyze information from multiple sources to identify discrepancies, missing information, or potential errors. • Ability to analyze data and recognize trends, inconsistencies, and issues requiring management attention. • Ability to resolve routine problems independently and appropriately escalate complex or unusual issues. 2. Financial and Reporting Skills • Ability to compile, organize, review, and validate financial data. • Ability to produce accurate recurring and ad hoc financial reports. • Ability to use spreadsheets and other reporting tools to organize and analyze financial information. 4. Computer and Technical Skills • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Word, and Outlook. • Ability to create, maintain, and manipulate spreadsheets containing program and financial data. 5. Organizational and Time-Management Skills • Ability to organize and prioritize multiple assignments and competing deadlines. • Ability to independently manage assigned projects and maintain appropriate documentation of work performed. 6. Communication Skills • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with managers, coworkers, contractors, vendors, and other stakeholders. Successful performance of this position requires the ability to move beyond routine administrative tasks and apply program knowledge, analytical skills, independent judgment, financial reporting skills, and problem-solving abilities to support the day-to-day operations of the Third-Party Liability program.
