Starting rate $17.06 per hour

Greenville County Rec is seeking a bright, friendly, energetic professional to coordinate Greenville County Rec senior programs and other special events for participants ages 50+ at the Mt. Pleasant Community Center. Offers meaningful work and a great team of coworkers!

Essential Tasks include (but are not limited to): Coordinates and implements senior programs, activities, & events ensuring compliance with applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations, County and Greenville County Rec policies and procedures, and standards of safety; assists in evaluating these programs and activities for effectiveness; implements changes as appropriate to continually improve programming; serves as lead programmer, implementing daily activities such as meal distribution, guest speakers, physical activity and games, other recreational activities, field trips, etc.; sets up for and cleans up after programs and events; supervises volunteers; assists in supervising the work of part-time staff; processes program registrations and fees in accordance with specified cash handling procedures; ensures the proper maintenance of participant records; drives 14-passenger minibus; takes appropriate steps to ensure the safety of all staff and program participants; assists in procuring necessary supplies and materials; assists with additional programs, activities, and events as needed; performs janitorial work, including cleaning and mopping floors and bathrooms and keep outside grounds clear of trash.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • One year relevant experience. Prefer experience working in recreation or closely related field, especially with senior populations.
  • Possess a valid state driver's license
  • Possess or obtain First Aid/CPR/AED certification (this may be obtained post-hire).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • Strong communications, interpersonal, organizational skills
