Engineering Program Manager (Hydrogen & Quantum Systems)
Winchester, VA
Pay From: $195,000 per year


MUST:
Experienced Program Manager
12+ years professional experience
5+ years of program management experience within drone/UAS manufacturing, aerospace, or a high-growth deep-tech environment
Experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams through design, development, testing, integration, and manufacturing
Experience managing complex hardware and software programs from prototype through production
Experience supporting the design, development, integration, and manufacturing of Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) or related aerospace platforms
Demonstrated understanding of hydrogen fuel cell integration and/or high-pressure gas systems
Familiarity with quantum computing applications and/or quantum sensing technologies
Experience coordinating mechanical, electrical, software, and advanced technology engineering teams
Experience managing technical integration and engineering trade-off decisions involving complex multidisciplinary systems
Experience developing and maintaining detailed engineering program schedules
Experience utilizing Agile and Stage-Gate development methodologies
Experience supporting rapid product development and aggressive delivery schedules
Experience working with manufacturing and procurement teams to transition engineering designs into production
Experience supporting supply chain activities involving specialized technical components and systems
Experience identifying and resolving technical bottlenecks, program risks, and engineering dependencies
Understanding of safety and compliance considerations involving hydrogen handling and cryogenic systems
Experience communicating technical program status, risks, schedules, and requirements to executive leadership and external stakeholders
Experience serving as a technical point of contact for customers, partners, and internal leadership
Proficiency with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) software
Proficiency with Jira, Smartsheet, Microsoft Project, or similar program management tools
Experience with FAA Type Certification or international UAS regulatory frameworks preferred
Experience working within rapid-development or "fail-fast" R&D environments preferred
Experience with military-grade hardware (MIL-SPEC) and/or high-reliability electronics preferred
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related engineering discipline required
PMP certification
MBA highly preferred

DUTIES:
Lead multidisciplinary engineering programs supporting the development and manufacturing of next-generation Unmanned Aerial Systems
Manage engineering programs from initial design and prototype development through testing, integration, manufacturing, and production
Coordinate the integration of high-pressure hydrogen fuel cell propulsion systems into UAS platforms
Coordinate the integration of quantum-enhanced navigation, sensing, and onboard processing technologies
Support the design and development of multi-rotor UAS platforms
Develop and maintain detailed program schedules, milestones, deliverables, dependencies, and resource requirements
Utilize Agile and Stage-Gate methodologies to manage engineering development and achieve aggressive delivery milestones
Lead technical coordination across mechanical, electrical, software, aerospace, manufacturing, and quantum-technology engineering teams
Facilitate technical trade-off discussions to optimize aircraft performance, flight endurance, reliability, and computational precision
Drive resolution of engineering integration issues and technical bottlenecks
Partner with procurement and supply chain teams to source specialized hydrogen components, quantum sensors, electronics, and other critical hardware
Coordinate with manufacturing teams to transition designs from prototype into scalable production
Ensure manufacturing operations are prepared to support rapid product scaling and assembly
Identify, track, and mitigate technical, schedule, supply chain, manufacturing, and program risks
Address safety and compliance considerations involving hydrogen handling and cryogenic systems
Track engineering performance against program schedules and delivery commitments
Serve as the primary technical program interface between engineering teams, executive leadership, and external defense or commercial partners
Provide executive leadership with clear visibility into program status, technical risks, schedule performance, and resource requirements
Support product lifecycle management, engineering documentation, configuration management, and program controls
Support applicable UAS regulatory, military hardware, and high-reliability system requirements
Drive programs in a rapid-development environment while maintaining engineering discipline, accountability, and production readiness
