Job Responsibilities
The Statewide Fleet Manager provides strategic leadership and operational oversight for the agencys fleet vehicles, trucks, heavy equipment, and related assets. This role directs coordination with the Equipment Depot Manager on all depot functions, manages fleet replacement programs, ensures compliance with alternative fuel mandates, evaluates new technologies, develops equipment standards, and maintains efficient pool operations. The position leverages data from fleet management systems to support informed decision-making for management and engineering teams while establishing and monitoring term contracts for cost-effective operations.
Provide functional supervision, technical support, guidance and knowledge pertaining to all functions performed by the Equipment Depot. As the STATE FLEET MANAGER, responsible for operations of the supply and Equipment Division in the absence of the Director. Leads agency-wide fleet replacement programs, including lifecycle planning, procurement, and disposal strategies. Prepare detailed technical equipment specifications, interpret specifications and related technical for agency personnel and serve as a liaison between vendors and agency for over $20 million annual vehicle and equipment replacements.Plans, coordinates, and executes tests and evaluations of new equipment and products; provides ongoing quality and performance monitoring of existing fleet assets to optimize reliability, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.Manage daily work involved to assign and maintain vehicle and equipment license, registration, titling, and fuel card programs for the agencys fleet.
Submits recommendations regarding programming, budgets, and utilization of personnel and equipment to Director and agency executive management to provide necessary vehicles and equipment to all agency personnel, monitor cost effective perations, and identify necessary changes. Coordinates the establishment, implementation, and monitoring of term contracts for equipment, and related services.
Minimum and Additional Requirements
A bachelors degree and five and one-half (5.5) years of relevant program management experience; or an approved acceptable equivalence. A valid motor vehicle operators license is required.
The physical demands for the essential functions of this position include sitting or standing at a desk for extended periods and working on a computer. May be required to lift up to 30 lbs. May be required to work outside of normal work schedule, especially during inclement weather and/or other departmental-related emergencies.
