Russell Tobin is partnering with a leading global consumer technology company to identify a Wireless Module Engineer for a 12-month W2 contract opportunity in Sunnyvale, CA.
The Wireless Module Engineer will support the development of wireless modules from early architecture and configuration definition through prototype builds, testing, and mass-production ramp. This role is ideal for an engineer with strong RF/wireless fundamentals, hardware development experience, analytical problem-solving skills, and program management capabilities.
The successful candidate will work closely with cross-functional engineering teams, external partners, suppliers, and test organizations to identify technical risks, analyze build and test data, resolve issues, and help ensure wireless modules meet quality and performance requirements.
Drive wireless module configuration definition and maintain visibility into hardware configurations and changes.
Track hardware changes and coordinate prototype and engineering builds.
Manage and coordinate associated purchase orders and supplier activities.
Partner with cross-functional engineering, product, manufacturing, quality, and test teams to ensure quality and performance requirements are met.
Collaborate with external suppliers and international teams across multiple time zones.
Track technical issues from identification through resolution.
Perform root-cause analysis and drive appropriate corrective actions.
Analyze electrical build and test data to identify performance or quality issues.
Work with engineering and external test partners to investigate failures and implement corrective actions.
Monitor project schedules, deliverables, risks, dependencies, and milestones.
Help establish project schedules and work breakdown structures.
Communicate technical risks, priorities, status, and action items to relevant stakeholders.
Support wireless module development through manufacturing and mass-production ramp.
Coordinate with vendors and external partners to ensure timely execution of technical deliverables.
Contribute to process and system optimization throughout the product development lifecycle.
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical field.
3+ years of relevant industry experience.
Strong understanding of RF fundamentals and wireless technologies.
Experience with program or project management in a technical/hardware environment.
Demonstrated problem-solving and system optimization skills.
Experience working effectively with cross-functional engineering and business teams.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret technical and electrical test data.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
2+ years of wireless module development experience, preferably taking products from early concept through mass production.
Experience supporting wireless modules for consumer electronic devices.
Experience with packaging, product engineering, ATE, or reliability engineering.
Experience managing vendor or supplier teams.
Experience leading meetings and coordinating teams across multiple time zones.
Familiarity with wireless module manufacturing flows.
Experience analyzing test data and driving corrective actions.
Experience with NPI, hardware builds, validation, characterization, or production ramp.
Experience creating project schedules and work breakdown structures (WBS).
Ability to identify, communicate, prioritize, and manage project risks.
Experience coordinating technical deliverables across internal and external teams.
The ideal candidate brings a combination of RF/wireless engineering knowledge and strong technical program execution skills. You should be comfortable working with engineering teams and external suppliers, reviewing hardware and test data, identifying technical issues, and driving actions through resolution.
Experience with wireless module development, consumer electronics, NPI, hardware builds, supplier management, and mass-production environments is highly valued.
