Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit

The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Nursing has been the leader in nursing education in North Carolina throughout its history. Established in 1950, it was the first school of nursing in North Carolina to offer a four-year baccalaureate nursing degree program followed by the first master's degree program, the first continuing education program for nurses, first doctoral program, and first accelerated BSN option to students with college degrees. Position Summary

The Program Manager for the Cancer Undergraduate Research Education Program (CUREP) is responsible for the day-to-day management, coordination, and successful execution of all program activities. This position serves as the primary point of contact for CUREP and is accountable for delivering program objectives on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with NIH requirements. The Program Manager plans and oversees program operations, including work planning, budget monitoring, recruitment and admissions support, staffing coordination, and vendor or subrecipient oversight. The position cultivates and maintains relationships with faculty mentors, participating students, partner institutions, cancer center leadership, and NIH program officials, and represents CUREP in internal and external meetings. The Program Manager develops and maintains program documentation, tracks performance against established metrics, and prepares progress and outcome reports for leadership, institutional stakeholders, and the funding agency. This role exercises independent judgment in resolving operational issues and recommends improvements to program design, policies, and procedures based on data, participant outcomes, and stakeholder feedback.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Bachelor's degree; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

Management Preferences

• Experience with Excel pivot tables.
• Knowledge of University financial systems.
• Experience coordinating undergraduate or graduate student programs, including recruitment, application review, onboarding, or participant tracking.
