Program Management Director

A leading aerospace and defense technology company is seeking a Program Management Director to lead its program management function across a multi-business-unit division focused on high-reliability space and defense solutions. This is a high-impact leadership role responsible for driving consistency in processes, tools, and best practices while directly leading program management teams across three distinct business units.

What You Will Do

• Lead and develop the program management function across multiple business units, including direct leadership of program management personnel
• Develop, train, and oversee implementation of functional strategies and objectives for program management
• Establish program baselines that ensure execution meets or exceeds proposal margin targets
• Identify and implement improved program management processes, tools, and best practices
• Build and mentor senior program management leadership across the division
• Create performance metrics, dashboards, and management tools to monitor effectiveness
• Review underperforming programs, develop mitigation plans, and oversee recovery execution
• Position program management as a growth enabler for revenue and operating profit
• Manage customer relationships at the executive level

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, or Science (MBA preferred)
• Minimum 10 years of program management experience with demonstrated leadership capability
• PMP certification or equivalent
• Proven ability to develop functional strategies and implement large-scale processes
• Experience leading in a matrixed organization
• Demonstrated success managing executive-level customer relationships
• Background in Aerospace and Defense or other highly regulated industries
• Ability to work full-time, on-site at the Roanoke, Virginia area facility
