Position Highlights

The Program Manager plays a key role in advancing the mission of the Center for Urban Entrepreneurship (CUE) by leading innovative programs, conducting scholarly and market research, and supporting aspiring entrepreneurs as they launch and grow their businesses. Reporting directly to the Director, this position is responsible for researching effective program models, developing and implementing mission-driven initiatives, evaluating outcomes, and building strategic partnerships that enhance entrepreneurial success. The Program Manager will also provide market research training and support to CUE clients, collaborate with community partners, and supervise student employees.

Key responsibilities include:

• Conducting interdisciplinary scholarly research and industry market research to support program development and client success.
• Designing, implementing, and evaluating entrepreneurial programs aligned with CUE's mission, vision, and budget.
• Providing market research training, guidance, and resources to entrepreneurs and small business owners.
• Building and maintaining partnerships with organizations that offer complementary resources and programs.
• Assessing program effectiveness and preparing reports that measure outcomes and impact.
• Hiring, training, and supervising student employees who support CUE operations and initiatives.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Manages the overall administration and coordination of non-academic programs, ensuring alignment with university goals and objectives
• Develops and implements program strategies to optimize performance and ensure effective delivery of program goals, timelines, and resource allocation
• Oversees the planning and execution of program events, coordinating logistics, communications, and resources to ensure successful outcomes
• Collaborates with internal stakeholders, including faculty, staff, and students, to ensure programs are executed smoothly and meet the needs of the university community
• Evaluates program effectiveness by conducting assessments, gathering feedback, and identifying opportunities to enhance program impact and efficiency
• Monitors program budgets, ensuring financial resources are effectively managed, expenses are tracked, and budget goals are met
• Provides guidance and support to program teams, offering leadership on program best practices, troubleshooting challenges, and mentoring team members
• Other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

• Knowledge of program management principles and best practices, including strategic planning, budgeting, and resource allocation
• Knowledge of event coordination and logistics management, ensuring smooth planning, execution, and evaluation of program-related activities
• Skill in budget management, including forecasting, tracking expenses, and ensuring programs stay within allocated financial resources
• Skill in problem-solving and conflict resolution, identifying challenges and implementing solutions to keep programs on track and meet objectives
• Ability to adapt to changing priorities and circumstances, remaining flexible and proactive in response to evolving university needs and challenges
• Ability to assess program performance, using data and feedback to evaluate success and drive continuous improvement

Minimum Education & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in related field
• 1 year of relevant experience
• Equivalent combination of experience and education may be considered

Job Level Overview

Specialized Contributor Level 1 - A developing, entry-level role focused on acquiring skills and knowledge to perform more advanced work. Responsibilities are well defined and limited in scope. Identifies, defines, and addresses problems and issues which are not immediately evident but are of limited complexity. Problems are typically solved through drawing from standard procedures and analysis.
