Baystate Health, a mission-driven academic healthcare system is seeking a dynamic and strategic System Programs Director to lead program development, operational performance, and strategic growth across our regional Women’s Health and Pediatrics teams.


This is a high-impact leadership role responsible for aligning strategy, quality, financial performance, and patient experience across multiple ambulatory sites, including:


+ Springfield, MA

+ Westfield, MA

+ Northampton, MA

+ Greenfield, MA

+ Palmer, MA


You’ll work closely with executive leadership, physician leaders, and operational teams to expand access to care, improve quality outcomes, and position the organization for the future of value-based healthcare.


RESPONSIBILITIES :


Drive Strategy & Growth


+ Design and implement strategic plans to expand behavioral health services across the region

+ Develop business plans and financial models to support new programs and initiatives

+ Analyze market trends, referral patterns, and competitive dynamics to guide service line growth


Lead Operational & Financial Performance


+ Manage program performance, operational improvement initiatives, and financial outcomes

+ Build budgets, monitor profitability, and identify opportunities to improve revenue cycle performance

+ Help position the organization for evolving payment models such as Accountable Care Organization (ACO) environments


Improve Quality & Patient Experience


+ Lead quality and safety initiatives across behavioral health programs

+ Monitor key performance metrics and implement improvement plans

+ Create patient-centered care models that enhance access and satisfaction


Build & Develop High-Performing Teams


+ Partner with physician leadership to recruit, develop, and retain clinical and operational talent

+ Mentor emerging leaders and foster a collaborative, mission-driven culture

+ Align teams across sites with organizational goals and service line strategy


Strengthen Community & Academic Partnerships


+ Develop strategic partnerships with community organizations and healthcare partners

+ Support academic and research initiatives including resident education and clinical training


QUALIFICATIONS:


+ Bachelor’s degree, required

+ Minimum of seven years of leadership experience in a related field in a complex organization with demonstrated skill in strategic planning, organizational leadership, financial management including revenue cycle, operational change, project management and practice management, required

+ Demonstrated experience with information management systems, clinical and business process redesign and use of information technology, required

+ Lean (QI) experience a plus

+ Strong interpersonal skills

+ Builds relationships with staff, organizational leaders and medical staff across Baystate Health. Ability to work collaboratively and cooperatively

+ Possesses the ability to work well with all levels of the organization from executive management to operations staff and is recognized as both a leader and team player

+ Demonstrated leadership skills in leading a large group to successful outcomes

+ Possesses excellent presentation, written and verbal skills

Typically, a new hire can expect a starting salary somewhere in the lower part of the range. Actual salaries may vary by position and will be determined based on the candidate's relevant experience. No employee will be paid below the minimum of the range. Pay ranges are listed as hourly for non-exempt employees and based on assumed full time commitment for exempt employees.
