The Program Director provides strategic, academic, and administrative oversight and leadership for the Community and Trauma Counseling (CTC) program. The Program Director collaborates closely with the Department Chair to advance the program’s mission, ensure academic excellence, support student success, and promote continuous improvement in teaching, scholarship, clinical training, and service.The Program Director is responsible for the overall administration, quality, and growth of the program, including curriculum oversight, faculty leadership and development, student enrollment, retention, and success initiatives, clinical educator coordination, assessment, accreditation activities, strategic planning, and resource management. The Director ensures ongoing alignment of program policies, curriculum, and outcomes with professional counseling standards and accreditation requirements.The Program Director serves as the primary leader and advocate for the program, fostering a collaborative, inclusive, student-centered culture that supports innovation, academic excellence, and engagement among faculty, staff, students, alumni, and community partners. The Director reports directly to the Department Chair and works collaboratively with departmental, college, and university leadership to achieve institutional goals and strategic priorities.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Provide overall leadership and administrative oversight of the Community and Trauma Counseling Program.
• Collaborate with the Department Chair on strategic planning, program development, budgeting, personnel management, and resource allocation.
• Lead programmatic accreditation efforts and ensure ongoing compliance with accreditation standards, state regulations, and university, college, and program policies.
• Oversee curriculum planning, implementation, assessment, and continuous improvement to ensure program quality and relevance to the counseling profession.
• Develop and implement strategies to support program growth, enrollment management, recruitment, and community partnerships.
• Promote the visibility and reputation of the program through professional
• engagement, outreach, scholarship, and service activities.
• Oversee development of new courses, certificates, concentrations, and academic initiatives.
• Lead faculty recruitment, onboarding, orientation, workload planning, and professional development initiatives.
• Supervise, mentor, develop, and evaluate full-time and adjunct faculty and staff, including classroom observations, review of promotion progress, and annual evaluations.
• Monitor program outcomes including student learning, retention, graduation, licensure, and employment data, utilizing assessment results to guide decision-making.
• Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, scholarly engagement, and commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging.
• Partner with clinical placement personnel, community agencies, and other stakeholders to support practicum and internship experiences.
• Serve as a visible and accessible resource for students, supporting student engagement, advising, retention, and professional development.
• Prepare reports, accreditation materials, assessment documentation, and other administrative communications as required.
• Teach graduate courses and maintain an active record of scholarship and service consistent with faculty rank and university expectations.
• Meet all faculty responsibilities outlined in the faculty contract.
• Complete other/additional administrative/program coordination duties as assigned.

  QUALIFICATIONS:Required:

  • Core faculty must meet one of the following qualifications: Earned doctoral degree in Counseling or Counselor Education and Supervision, preferably from a CACREP-accredited program, or a related doctoral degree and full-time faculty employment in a counselor education program for a minimum of one full academic year before July 1, 2013; or Full-time doctoral-level faculty employment in a CORE-accredited master's program prior to July 1, 2017; or Graduation from a rehabilitation doctoral program prior to January 1, 2018.
  • Must hold professional counseling credentials (i.e., LPC, LMHC, LCPC, or equivalent licensure). LPC is preferred.
  • Minimum of three years of academic leadership, program coordination, or administrative experience in higher education.
  • Must have a minimum of 3-5 years clinical experience in trauma-informed and related mental health service delivery.
  • Must have a minimum of 3 years of graduate level teaching experience in counseling or a related discipline.
  • Experience with outcomes assessment, accreditation, curriculum development, and online/hybrid education.
  • Demonstrated commitment to student success, inclusive excellence, and collaborative leadership.Preferred:
  • Experience leading CACREP accreditation or accreditation review processes.
  • Experience supervising counselor trainees and clinical education activities.
  • Candidate expertise in addictions and recovery is a plus, as is expertise in play therapy or art therapy in the treatment of trauma impacted clients
  • Demonstrated success in program growth, enrollment management, and development of innovative academic initiatives.
