    Description

    The department of Center for Public Health Initiatives (CPHI) is seeking an Academic Program Manager to provide support and leadership for the development and management of programs and projects related to professional education for the public health workforce. Professional education programs focus on people working in public health (or similar fields) and can include skill development workshops, support for communities of practice and experiential learning opportunities.

    Core responsibilities include:

    • Creating and coordinating professional education (workforce development) programs and projects
    • Applying knowledge of best practices for professional education
    • Conducting program planning and development
    • Engaging in program implementation aligned with priorities, policies and procedures
    • Providing training for staff and other collaborators
    • Leading program evaluation and reporting activities
    • Leading policy development and analysis related to professional education
    • Performing research and analysis on specific issues, as required
    • Planning and implementing special projects or events

    Education, Experience, Licensure, or Certification required for entry into position:

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
    • At least three years of experience coordinating professional education projects or programs
    • Training in public health

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
    • A bachelor’s degree
    • Experience setting up new programs

    The person in this role translates priorities into executable programs and independently manages implementation, stakeholder relationships, work plans, and day-to-day decisions to achieve program objectives. The work requires professional judgment informed by researching emerging issues and analyzing data and includes developing recommendations and resolving problems without clearly defined solutions (i.e., specific to programs connected to different partners).

    The position routinely communicates with public health professionals, faculty, community organizations, and workforce partners to facilitate meetings, deliver training and presentations, and represent CPHI externally. The role also requires strong technology proficiency across program management, learning management, and reporting platforms, and the ability to work independently (within CPHI frameworks) while coordinating a multidisciplinary team without direct supervisory authority.

    The position’s schedule involves evening and weekend events, requiring flexibility beyond a standard Monday–Friday schedule. Though the position has no direct reports, it provides functional leadership, which includes setting expectations, monitoring progress, and ensuring deliverables are completed through influence and collaboration. This position also contributes to the strategic growth of CPHI's professional education portfolio.

    This position requires specialized knowledge, independent judgment, professional communication, technology proficiency, and functional leadership resulting in responsibility that goes beyond routine administrative coordination.

    Salary up to $60,000.00
