Job Summary
The City of Fort Collins is seeking a Program Coordinator (Revenue & Licensing) to join the Sales Tax Department. This part-time hourly position offers an anticipated hourly range of $26 to $30 per hour. The Sales Tax Department is responsible for approximately 50% of the City's governmental revenue. Sales and use taxes are the key source of funding for core government functions like safety, roads, multi-use path infrastructure and parks. The Program Coordinator (Revenue & Licensing) will play a pivotal role in ensuring accurate collection and reporting of sales and use tax revenues. Your responsibilities will include being the first-line customer service contact for the department's 14 categories of licenses including sales and use tax, lodging tax, liquor occupation tax, short-term rentals, and outdoor vendors. With a strong focus on accuracy and excellent customer service, you will contribute to the fiscal health and transparency of our community.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- First-line customer service contact for the department's 14 categories of licenses including sales and use tax, lodging tax, liquor occupation tax, short-term rentals, and outdoor vendors.
- Processes applications for various license types, opens and closes vendor accounts.
- Responsible for assisting the public and private business owners to understand and comply with City ordinances, policies and procedures, rules and regulations regarding sales/use tax, lodging tax and miscellaneous licenses.
- Research and answer taxpayer questions regarding City ordinances, policies and procedures, rules and regulations regarding sales/use tax, lodging tax and miscellaneous licenses, verbally and in writing, escalates more complex issues.
- Assists vendors with tax software registration, filing sales, use and other tax returns, and troubleshooting.
- Follows up on questions and/or problems to ensure customer satisfaction. Keeps manager informed about the status of issues that may arise from taxpayer questions or questionable sales/use tax accounts.
- Researches, compiles and/or disseminates information and reports.
- Identifies possible improvements and efficiencies to enhance customer service.
- Assists with Revenue Specialist team with tax administration department projects.
