PURPOSE
SUMMARY:
This
position
is
responsible
for
overseeing
the
development,
coordination,
implementation,
and
evaluation
of
the
Advanced
Academics
program
within
the
District.
KEY
FUNCTIONS,
ESSENTIAL
DUTIES,
AND
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Program
Coordination:
1.
Facilitates
the
implementation
of
advanced
academic
and
gifted
learner
instructional
programming
across
the
district.
2.
Assists
in
coordinating
staff
development
for
Advanced
Academic
Services
and
ensures
effective
dissemination
of
department
information,
including
compliance
measures
for
the
education
of
gifted
learners.
3.
Organizes
and
leads
district-wide
meetings
to
support
program
goals.
4.
Collaborates
on
instructional
strategies
that
foster
a
college
readiness
culture
in
all
advanced
academic
programs.
5.
Coordinates
Advanced
Academics
staff
development
sessions
and
manages
related
records
to
support
professional
growth.
6.
Supports
data
collection
and
analysis
to
guide
instructional
decisions,
advancing
college/career
readiness,
and
gifted
learner
program
services.
7.
Provides
leadership,
resources,
and
support
to
campuses
to
align
Advanced
Academics
programs
with
district
instructional
and
college/career
readiness
goals.
8.
Delivers
professional
development
to
district
personnel
on
instructional
best
practices
and
differentiation
for
gifted,
advanced,
and
college-ready
learners.
9.
Collaborates
with
campus
and
district
staff
to
enhance
advanced
academic
program
services
in
line
with
district
objectives.
10.
Cultivates
collaborative
relationships
with
district
staff,
campus
personnel,
and
community
members
to
strengthen
program
initiatives.
11.
Oversees
program
implementation
to
ensure
alignment
with
vendor
guidelines
and
district
standards.
12.
Provides
assistance
and
support
for
departmental
events,
including
family
information
sessions,
which
may
occasionally
require
evening
and
weekend
availability.
13.
Performs
additional
duties
as
assigned
to
support
Advanced
Academics.
Compliance:

Performs
all
duties
and
tasks
in
a
manner

with
all
applicable

and

within
the
Department
and

with

applicable
local,
state,
and
federal
regulatory

as

as

best
practices
pertaining
to
gifted/talented
instruction
and
compliance
with
the
Texas
State

for
the
Education
of
Gifted

17.

MINIMUM
EDUCATION,
EXPERIENCE
&
CREDENTIAL
REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's
Degree
in
Education
or
related
field;
Master's
degree
preferred
Active,
In
Good
Standing,
and
Duly
Obtained
Texas
Teacher
Certification;
Gifted
and
Talented
Supplemental
certification,
preferred
Five
years
of
experience
working
as
a
classroom
teacher
An
equivalent
combination
of
education
and
work
experience

&
WORKING
CONDITIONS:
This
position
requires
frequent
sitting,
walking,
standing,
reading,
seeing,
speaking,
hearing,
listening,
organizing,
interpreting
data
and
information,
operating
office
equipment,
typing
using
a
computer
keyboard
and
mouse,
viewing
a
computer
screen
monitor,
and
use
of
a
telephone.
The
working
environment
consists
of
an
indoor
and
climate-controlled
setting
the
majority
of
the
time.
