Description

Do you enjoy working with details, supporting community programs, and creating meaningful opportunities for adults ages 55 and older? We are seeking a dependable and organized individual to assist Parks, Recreation & Cultural Resources (PRCR) staff with program implementation, project development, and special projects.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, dependable, and enjoys helping others while contributing to programs and services that enhance the lives of the 55+ population.

This position performs routine clerical and administrative duties, assists with assigned programs and projects, and handles specific tasks as directed by the supervisor. Work may involve interaction with the public, depending on the assignment. Driving may also be required.

In order to support programs and events, preference will be given to candidates with availability during weekdays primarily in the morning-midday hours (8 AM- 2PM). Evening and weekend work will be occasional and only as needed.

This is a part-time, non-benefited, year-round position, up to 20 hours a week, with a maximum of 999 hours per year.

Typical Tasks

  • Performs responsible administrative work, such as participant registration, daily enrollment checks, and developing daily camper activity plans
  • Performs marketing assistant tasks, such as creating brochures, posters, flyers, etc.
  • Performs data entry and processing; maintains databases
  • Performs general office duties
  • May engage in significant telephone contact with the public
  • Assists with various aspects of PRCR programs and special events
  • Assists PRCR staff by working at special events
  • May perform light maintenance, care and upkeep of event and program supplies
  • Performs other job-related tasks as required.

Minimum and Preferred Qualifications

Education and Experience

Requires a combination of education and experience equivalent to a high school diploma/GED.

Preference will be given to candidates who possess one or more of the following:

  • Some experience with in-person customer service and/or guest interactions
  • Some experience assisting with special events or programs
  • Some experience with Microsoft Office 365 (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel)

Physical Requirements

Work in this class requires an employee to be able to hear and talk in order to communicate with public. An employee must be able to walk unassisted and move about freely. Requires the ability to lift moderately heavy items (up to 25 lbs.) such as chairs, 6-foot tables, rolling bleachers, and event supplies. Visual acuity is needed in order to read typewritten and handwritten materials and to view a computer terminal.
