About Houston-Galveston Area Council   

The Houston-Galveston Area Council is one of the largest regional planning commissions in the country with a diverse service area of 13 counties and more than 7 million people. We are the pulse of our region addressing issues that cross city limits and county lines every single day.   
 
We make decisions that affect our transportation system, ensure the safety and well-being of our seniors, connect people to jobs, help families recover from natural disasters, preserve water quality for our children, and so much more. What will I bedoing?
  • Provide fiscal support to the Gulf Coast Workforce Board’s program and contracted operations.
  • Periodically update grant budgets, recommend fund transfers, and monitor expenditures.
  • Work closely with H-GAC’s Finance Department to maintain accurate financial records and troubleshoot problems.
  • Ensure programs and services are delivered in accordance with the Workforce Board’s directive and compliant with all federal, state and local laws and regulations.
  • Read, review, interpret and enact written guidance from state, federal and local governments.
  • Review fiscal information and make recommendations that influence system budgeting.
  • Communicate updates regarding payments to training and child care providers.
  • Track and reconcile scholarship fund balances and obligations.
  • Coordinate fund projection tools, dashboards, and tracking systems with Board staff.
  • Support team members by gathering support documentation for agency audits.
  • Ensure all work is accurate, complete, and compliant with established procedures and federal guidelines
  • Work productively with a diverse team of individuals.

KeyQualifications
  • Knowledge in finance and governmental accounting principles
  • Experience with developing, modifying, and monitoring federal or state grant budgets
  • Knowledge of Uniform Administrative Requirements and applicable federal, state, and local compliance regulations
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 suite, specifically Excel
  • Experience with accounting software, preferably MIP
  • Experience with project management software, preferably Asana
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Service oriented with a high degree of professionalism in dealing with diverse groups of people
  • Ability to complete tasks independently
  • Strong time management skills 
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

Do you have…  
  • Bachelor’s degree in an applicable academic discipline or related field of study   
  • 5 years of experience working with local government, nonprofit programs, school, or in job-related duties 
Salary Range: $90,000.00 - $110,000.00
