Florida College is seeking a full-time, tenure track faculty member to add to its Department of engineering to teach courses for its new B.S.M.E. degree program, with a start date of August 1, 2026. This role presents an exciting opportunity to help shape the mechanical engineering program while also being part of the mission of Florida College: to educate the whole person to imitate Christ in service to God and others. Like all Florida College employees, the individual who serves in this role will be privileged to serve our amazing students while working collaboratively with dedicated fellow Christians. The ideal candidate will be an innovative faculty member with a terminal degree in mechanical engineering who has experience in both industry and collegiate teaching; however, individuals with a master' s degree in mechanical engineering or a related engineering eld will be considered. The successful candidate is expected to be (or become) an exceptional teacher who values mentoring and advising students while continuing professional development and growth in their respective eld. Florida College is rst and foremost a teaching college, as opposed to a research university. Qualications and Experience •Committed to the unique Christian mission and values of Florida College, including a willingness to adhere to the Florida College code of conduct in personal and professional life •Possesses professional and proactive work ethic, including self-motivation, multi-tasking, and creativity in problem-solving •Credentialed to teach engineering courses in an undergraduate setting, typically met by holding a master' s degree with 18 graduate hours in courses in the discipline. •Teaching experience within the engineering discipline, at the college level, preferred •Willingness and ability to support future growth of the engineering programs •Ability to work collegially with a diverse group of faculty, staff, administrators, and students while maintaining a professional and healthy attitude Responsibilities •Teach a full course load each Fall and Spring semester, typically dened as four courses per semester. •Assist the program director and department chair with (a) SACSCOC and ABET accreditation, including the collection of data pertaining to budget and reporting processes in the Department of Engineering and in preparing required reports (ABET, Independent Colleges and Universities of Florida (ICUP), and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC), etc); (b) annual revisions and updates to the BSME Student Handbook, the Department of Engineering Faculty Handbook, and the College Catalog; (c) the development, implementation, and evaluation of the BSME program at Florida College, including the use of data collected, assessed, and evaluated for systematic program improvement plan (SPIP); and (d) the development and growth of the B.S.M.E. degree program, including internships, student organizations, and alumni support. •Establish rapport with students in the classroom and engage with students beyond the classroom by supporting and attending student activities. •Maintain regularly scheduled ofce hours to be available for students in accordance with FC personnel policy. •Serve on institutional or academic committees and sponsor student organizations, as assigned by the Provost. •Participate regularly in professional development, committed to personal growth and excellence as an engineering instructor, scholar, and member for the Florida College faculty. •Engage in service and scholarly activity with an interest in continued growth and enhancement of the department' s critical role among Florida College' s academic programs. •Work collaboratively with the Florida College faculty, staff, and administration to contribute to the Florida College mission.
