ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Reporting to the Chair of Pathology, the Vice Chair for Clinical Affairs will provide overall leadership of clinical services of the Department of Pathology, including all sections of Anatomic and Clinical Pathology. The ideal candidate will be an excellent clinician, educator, and scholar with expertise in one or more of the subspecialties in Pathology. It is expected that the individual will engage in active clinical service including covering call as appropriate, but the primary criteria for selection will be the candidate's track record in operational leadership in an academic setting. The medical directors of all clinical divisions and services will report to the Vice Chair who will provide oversight, guidance, and mentorship. Essential responsibilities include advancing the educational mission including teaching and mentorship of fellows, residents, medical students and other clinical trainees of the department. The Vice Chair will also work collaboratively with clinical division chiefs of other departments, work closely with the physician and non-physician leadership across the health system and participate in GME and UME education and curriculum development in collaboration with the program directors. Priority will be given to candidates who have a track record for innovation and have experience and/or interest in digital pathology, informatics, and AI.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • MD, DO, or MD/PhD
  • Texas Medical Licensure
  • Board Certified in Anatomic and/or Clinical Pathology

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

5-10 years of clinical experience and at least 3-5 years of leadership in Pathology

SALARY:

Commensurate with experience.
