    The Professional Civil Engineer III is a permanent, full-time position with the Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT). This is highly responsible administrative engineering work as the head of one of the engineering bureaus or as an Assistant Regional Engineer with the Alabama Department of Transportation. Duties of a bureau chief include formulating agency engineering programs; implementing and directing programs making a wide range of administrative and technical decisions; and coordinating all program activities toward accomplishing departmental objectives. Assistant Regional Engineer employees assist in planning, directing, and administering all functions of a major transportation regional office. These functions include pre-construction/planning, construction, maintenance, materials and tests, county transportation, and other administrative functions. Work involves the supervision of a considerable number of professional assistants and includes supervision over the activities of a large number of employees.
