The Professional Barber is responsible for delivering exceptional grooming services while creating a valuable and quality client experience. In this position, one will contribute to the success of the shop by maintaining service quality, building client relationships, supporting shop culture, and helping grow the business through professionalism, consistency, and excellence.
Professional barbers are expected to uphold company standards, policies, procedures, and customer service expectations.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Client Services
- Perform barbering and grooming services in accordance with professional standards and state regulations
- Deliver consistent, high-quality haircuts and grooming services
- Consult with clients regarding service options and desired outcomes
- Maintain a professional and welcoming client experience
- Encourage repeat business through relationship building and customer service
- Promote retail products and additional services when appropriate
Professional Standards
- Arrive on time and prepared for scheduled shifts and appointments
- Maintain a clean, professional, and client-ready appearance
- Maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary workstation
- Follow all sanitation, health, and safety requirements
- Maintain professionalism in all interactions with clients, coworkers, and management
- Comply with all company policies, procedures, and operational standards
Team Responsibilities
- Support a positive and team-oriented work environment
- Participate in shop promotions, events, and marketing initiatives when requested
- Assist in maintaining the overall appearance and cleanliness of the shop
- Communicate professionally with management regarding scheduling, attendance, and operational needs
Barber Responsibilities
Professional Barbers are responsible for providing and maintaining:
- Professional cutting tools
- Clippers, trimmers, shears, and related equipment
- Tool maintenance and upkeep
- Require licenses and renewals
- Continuing education requirements
- Professional appearance consistent with company standards
Requirements
Qualifications
Required
- Active Alabama Barber License or Master Barber License
- Ability to legally perform barbering services in the State of Alabama
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Professional appearance and demeanor
- Reliable transportation
- Ability to work scheduled shifts and maintain attendance standards
Preferred
- Established clientele
- Previous barbershop or salon experience
- Retail sales experience

Professional Barbers earn a competitive hourly base wage plus commission based on weekly production.
Commission Range: 40% - 65%
Higher production creates higher earning potential, rewarding consistency, professionalism, client retention, and performance.
Barbers retain 100% of their tips.
