Description
Nucor's Western Metals Recycling division is seeking a ProductionTeam Member in Sparks, NV to support scrap metal processing, equipment operation, and material handling in a fast-paced environment. Key requirements for this role include at least one year of heavy manufacturing or scrap recycling experience, physical stamina for 12-hour shifts, and strong safety awareness.
Pay and Benefits
Starting Pay: $20.00 – $23.00 per hour, plus a $2,000 sign-on bonus paid in phases within the first 6 months

Job Responsibilities
Job Duties
Material Handling & Vehicle Prep: Assist with weighing, sorting, and moving scrap materials at the kiosk; inspect incoming metal and autos to advise customers on acceptable items; prepare vehicles by removing designated parts and fluids
Equipment Operation & Maintenance: Operate small equipment like forklifts (with potential to operate larger industrial equipment) and perform daily pre-operation inspections to report defects
Yard Maintenance & General Support: Perform general yard labor including sweeping, shoveling, and clearing debris to maintain clean and safe grounds; cross-train and assist other departments as needed
Qualifications
Job Requirements
Experience & Education: Minimum 1 year of general labor experience in heavy manufacturing, preferably in scrap metal or construction industries; basic math and computer skills required
Physical Capability: Ability to stand or walk up to 12 hours daily, regularly lift up to 50 lbs, and work in a fast-paced, non-stop setting
Safety & Execution: Strong commitment to OSHA and company safety standards, ability to follow written/oral instructions, adapt to changing priorities, and maintain consistent attendance without constant supervision
